Wow, was I wrong! I was hesitant that a true Sailor King Of Pen at this price would either be a counterfeit or something other than advertised, but I was completely wrong. This pen is a masterpeice of smooth writing and craftsmanship.Apparently Amazon has found an incredible grey market for Japanese made pens that is both affordable and is the real thing. The pen from post to nib is as advertised, writes as smoothly - or dare I say more smoothly - than my Mont Blanc 149, and is simply one of the most impressive pens I have ever laid my hands on.Excellent!

After a lot of shopping, reviews and contemplation...I finally decided to buy the King of Pens. I personally like larger fountain pens and prefer a bold nib. This has been a great purchase and unquestionably is my favorite fountain pen. Highly recommend for any pen enthusiasts.

First off, I would never consider dropping the US price found in many other places that lists the King of Pens for around $800 (don't forget taxes on top of that!). Amazon has this at the best price by hundreds of dollars on this pen. I was able to click the buy on it for a little more than $400 tax included (or about half of what most seller on other websites offer it for. But, because I had accumulated some cash back on my Discover card I deducted a chunk off that price. The pen writes great. Extremely smooth and has a classic look to it.It is a big pen, but not uncomfortable or clumsy at all. I like to post my pens and the balance is flawless. Some reviews have griped about the filling syatem (cartridge or converter) but I prefer that. I hate the systems where you have to remember to adjust things because it stops writing suddenly. No adjustments needed whit the Sailor, just refill it and go. I probably won't be getting anothe fountain pen for a while. Mainly, the reason being, that I want to enjoy the writing experience with the Sailor KOP for quite a while.

Sailor makes the best fountain pens and inks in my opinion, and the King of Pen or King Profit is their flagship product. I own 11 KOP pens in various materials, finishes and nib grinds that I have bought over the last 30 years and I love them all. The large size gives the nib a little bit of "bounce" or softness which you don't get with the other pens from Sailor. And if you are patient, you can find this pen on Amazon Japan for a significant discount over one that has been officially imported stateside by an authorized vendor. The KOP is head and shoulders better than any of the flagship fountain pens sold by other vendors, except perhaps the Pilot Custom Urushi, and can be purchased for much less money, which makes it a must own pen in my mind.

First, thanks to Amazon for bringing such a wonderful pen at a most reasonable price.This pen, in my opinion, is difficult to top. There are two possible critiques that, in my opinion, are assets rather than deterrence. The Sailor KOP comes with a converter instead of a piston. Do not get me wrong, I enjoy my piston pens, but it is so much easier to change the ink with a converter the I find myself using inks that would never use with a fine piston filler. This pen may not have the "snobbish" presentation that a well known competitor, but that is OK with me (special at the difference in price).My pens are for pure enjoyment, and this one fits the bill 100%.

This pen doesn't have the old version nib. It has new. Alberto C. answered old version. It seems like he is not the seller. Because of the answer, I purchased it.
