Columbia Girl's Silver Ridge III Convertible Sun Pant, Moisture Wicking

I bought these pants from REI for my daughter to wear to Girl Scout camp. The fit is lose and baggy, but that's okay for her. She's an average sized 7 year old and we bought size 8.The problem is the button at the waist. My daughter has been able to undo buttons since she was three, but this particular button gives her a lot of problems. So much so that she doesn't want to wear them to camp because she's afraid of not being able to take them off without help.I wish they had put a snap instead!
