I have a similar one and connected it to the number plate light so it comes on with side and headlights - I use it as an extra rear view ‘mirror’ all the time - just drive around with sidelights on.

If the bluetooth sender is live then the monitor will display. Obviously for use at the rear the live feed is taken from the reversing light. In your case provided there is a fused positive supply the camera and thus the bluetooth sender and monitor will be on. For what its worth my car is rear engined and the sender sits only 9" or so above the engine. No problems with the signal to the monitor at the front.

I have it installed on Toyota Hilux and the aerial is mounted in the rear near side corner and the reception is fine.
