The Kids Book of World Religions

Very Disappointed not very accurate, skims thur the major religions making them very confusing
The Kids Book of World ReligionsI was very disappointed in this book. It skims over the major religions and makes them confusing and is not very accurate. Christian only has 8 pages, and half of those are pictures. Even though Christian is the most major religion of the World and the major religion of the Western Hemisphere. It does not list it as the major religion of North America, either. The section on North American Religions does not list Christian at all in it list, it lists different Native America Religions only. With Christian being the major world religion, it should tell more of each group and the differences of each subgroup. It also lists Christian as the major religion of the Middle East. Voodoo and Santeria is listed in one paragraph talking about Afro-Caribbean Religions, but does not tell anything about these religions. Will be returning and look for something more accurate.

Good Overview on Major World Religions for Children
I bought this book for my daughter, because I think it's important to be aware and respectful of different religions and beliefs. In a children's book, it is difficult to cover every religion to everyone's satisfaction, but in general, we thought this book did a good job. She was in the third grade at the time we got it for her, and she says she really enjoyed reading it.The book stars out with a brief over view of religion, what it is, and for me personally, I like that it touches on the fact that people have done good and bad things in the name of their religion, because even as a woman of faith, I think that's a fair point to be made and understood. It then goes on to give overviews of some of the major religions. In my opinion, there's no way to cover every feature of such complex topics in a children's book, and people in less populaced groups, such as Nichiren Diashonen Buddhists, won't see their group covered in here and may find that offensive because of how much they cherish their belief system.General overviews of the larger belief systems is what I expected, and what I got. Some groups may be disappointed not to be in there, but I personally thought it was a good enough selection for a children's book. I think it is the same with any children's book, it's the start of a journey in learning, you can't cover everything at once or it's too overwhelming and nothing sticks...that's how I see this book. A start of a journey, that we will help her fill in with more information as she gets older or as she wants it.

Comprehensive introduction to a variety of religions
I purchased this book as a homeschool curriculum. My oldest son was getting a little confused on religion as my husband and I share different views then my mother. My mother was trying to impress her views on to my kids. This book has really helped with showing my children a variety of religions. I do wish it had a few other religions included but overall it is a fantastic glimpse for children. It has been a great tool to use in our classroom as well as helping my children understand that there are so many different religions and it is their choice.

A great book for bringing the information of world religions to young readers
I got this for my niece who was getting read Christian books read to her daily and I wanted her to get a more well rounded education on spirituality. This book doesn’t promote any religion but gives a factual, concise, and illustrated account of so many of the world’s religious beliefs. I learned a thing or two myself! My niece (4) loves the illustrations and the easy to understand wording. I’d give 10 stars and buy again if possible. Do yourself and the young ones in your life and get them this book.

Wonderful addition to any hime
I’m so grateful for this book. It really helped me explain different religions and the people who follow those religions while also linking to history and geography.

Helpful
Appropriate for helping our 10 yo learn a more global, universal view of spirituality and religion, and how so many traditions and beliefs generally lead back around to common ground experienced in different ways. It's probably not ideally representing everything, but to help teach a kid a world view I think it's helpful.

Answered Questions for Child and Grownups with No Apparent Bias
This was one of a couple of similar books purchased recently for my niece, a first-grader who's already reading above grade level and who has a habit of asking questions that leave the adults in the family wondering how to find the answer. She's not asking as many religion questions as she had been, but already corrected one classmate's comment with information I'm sure she got from this book. An added bonus has been that all her grownups have also been learning from this book! It's a little general (to be expected) but does a fairly good job of covering the basics of the world's major religions. Even more important, it does so with no obvious bias.
