It is a gross-out, "oh no he didn't eat (or do) that" game show that is intended to make the home viewer recoil in disgust (and sometimes squeal with glee). All nine episodes from the first season, which debuted in 2001, are included on the two-disc set, which includes something for everyone who likes a little ick factor in their lives: Contestants being smothered by rats. Check. Seemingly sane folks willing to be chased by attack dogs. Check. The iron-stomached wonders who'll eat animal eyeballs to win. Check. Hosted by snarky Joe Rogan (NewsRadio), who sometimes appears amazed at what people are willing to do for a prize, Fear Factor does offer some truly thrilling elements (such as the episode where the contestants hurl themselves from a telephone phone). Yes, it's not right, but there's a certain part of most of us that can't turn away from accidents. When we do this on a highway, we feel guilty. But with this show, hey, the players knew what they were signing up for. The problem with the series is that the premise grows redundant pretty fast. Each contestant must make it through three challenges. The first is usually a test of your strength or speed (see above reference to attack dogs). The second relies on creepy crawly things either being ingested or smothering your face. And finally, we have tasks that must be completed faster than the other opponents. Very few of the contestants exhibit actual fear. But revulsion? Absolutely. --Jae-Ha Kim

Great movie
I enjoyed every episode of this movie. I just wish I can buy season 2 on dvd soon.

Fear Factor has the Fame Factor
I'm convinced the late 90's and early 2000's had the best reality television shows.. Fear Factor came around as the first of its kind: a reality show that puts people through their fears for a cash prize. While this first season is pretty tame as far as the stunts go, the editing is superior to later seasons because it aids in the building of tension and anxiety that is lacking in later seasons. Another thing I love about this show is that it is something everyone can relate to. You at home can sit and watch, asking yourself, "Could I do that?" It's a show that puts people on the edge and it's fun to watch how they react to the stunts. I'd recommend this to anyone who is a fan of reality TV and to anyone who appreciates good reality television.

Cool
I am obsessed with The Fear Factor. When I saw that it wad on DVD I had to have it! I'm not a HUGE fan of the first season, because I don't think it's all that "gross, squirmy, etc" as the later seasons, but I had to have it. I really wish they would release the rest of the seasons on DVD. I would own them all!

DVD not fantastic
Fear Factor is my favorite show of all time so I hate to only give this DVD set 4 stars. My big complaint about this DVD is that it is missing the season one highlights episode. This is the only season of fear factor on DVD so I would at least expect the entire season to be on it. Come on NBC, just release the entire series.

Great to freak out your nieces and nephews
Most adults remember this weird and gross TV show. My young nieces and nephews do not but were riveted when they watched this DVD. Now, I have to buy all the seasons!!

Fear Factor Rocks
Its about time Fear Factor was released on DVD - Especially for Australian, who have never seen the first few series.They could have put a few special features in though, otherwise, a great DVD. Can't wait for future seasons to be released.

Where are the other seasons???
Such a great show and a fun set to watch with friends and fam for a good gross out or laugh. I'd love for them to release more seasons, but like with every other good reality series, the releases were few and far between and we'll never get to complete any of these sets...

J'ai acheté ce coffret pour mon frère car il est accro à Fear Factor.J'ai visionné les DVD avec lui et j'ai moi aussi adoré. J'aime bien les défis qui sont lancés aux participants! Ils leur font souvent manger des choses impensables et très surprenantes comme des yeux d'animaux, des testicules de boeuf, etc...Chaque épisode m'a tenu en haleine jusqu'à la toute fin et je recommande donc à tous ceux qui aiment l'action "un peu bizarre" d'acheter ce coffret.
