Works Great! Expensive to install.
I was in the market for a new water heater and was debating on going tankless because since being in my home, I've had 2 water heaters (10 years apart) flood my bedroom and ruin my wood floors on one occassion and most recently flood the hallway and laundry closet where my water heater is located (thankfully tiled). I was more motivated to go tankless because I saw the price drop in the equipment since years ago when I first priced it out and if I had one more leak, I was going to scream (my water heater is located in the center of my house (not in the garage/basement like most). So I researched and the ECOSMART was getting great reviews and had the most competitive pricing. I had a 40 gal tank water heater and my plumber said I should be good with an 80amp tankless unit for my home (2 bathrooms equiped with 2 sinks and shower and bath, washing machine, dishwasher and kitchen sink and 3 people in the household and perhaps one day, 4). I orginally chose the 112.5amp unit because the price was lower than the 100 amp and I was nervous about the 75.5 amp unit not being enough because I read reviews that when operating what I had in the house, their wasn't enough hot water. When it came time to install-the plumbers job was easy and didn't cost a lot, but the electrician warned me that most homes are not orginally equipped with enough amperage to support all of the house and a whole house electric water heater. He also told me that the $50 savings I got with buying the unit with 112.5 amps was going to be squashed by the cost to supply power to it. He suggested that I spend the extra $50 to save hundreds of dollars on his end. So that I did and I don't regret it. When all was said and done, I don't regret getting the tankless regardless of paying way more than had I gone with tank. PROS: More space in my landry closet for storage and shelving and organizing (much desired and needed) I live in FL and my pipes are located in the attic, so my water does not take any longer to get hot than it did with the tank. Energy Efficient with on demand hot water Long long hot showers Aestheically pleasing to the eye NO MORE ANXIETY about floods in my home-I could install wood if I really wanted to now CONS: Electrian is going to cost you, especially more the further your water heater is away from your electrical box (more wire and I chose not to move it because the closer your water heater is to the devices it's supplying-the quicker you receive hot water) For ppl not in FL or warmer climates, I can see where it might take a bit longer to get hot water-but I don't see that as a deal breaker really.

Works fine. Dropped my electric bill
I have installed this EcoSmart 24KW heater as a solar water heater backup. I ran two 3/4" EMT conduits and used 3 pairs of #8 copper for the installation. The EMT serves as the safety ground. (A note here: I ran 3 wires through each conduit, and the wires actually vibrated at 60Hz due to magnetic forces while on. I had to go back and change to 4 and 2 to stop this vibration!) My solar system preheats the water, and the EcoSmart 24KW just adds the necessary energy to bring the water up to 120 degrees F. The EcoSmart 24 KW even heats the water just fine with the solar system not heating on a cold cloudy January day. I have a 3.3 gal/minute shower head (I measured with a 5 gallon bucket & a stopwatch), and about a 65 degree input water temp. A comment here: it seems that it is better to adjust your shower temperature with the cold water only. If your shower is too hot, turn on some more cold. Too cold(?), turn off some cold. That way the flow rate through the EcoSmart is not changed, and there is no feedback loop to adjust around. So after learning that, the system works just fine! I had to drill two new holes in the bottom of the EcoSmart to accept my two EMT connectors. The included hole/wire-clamp did not work out for me (but no problem. I just used a step drill from H. Freight to drill the holes). I used two corrugated copper tubes to make the water connections. No problem there either. EcoSmart says to use a wrench on its side of the connection, but the copper tubes say only to tighten one turn past hand-tight. Not much torque required. I used an 1-1/8" wrench anyway though. (There was not enough space to use a Crescent-style wrench). Another comment: our city gives photovoltaic subsidies if you install photovoltaics on your roof. The city wants you to have a solar water heater that preheats water for a 30 amp TANK water heater. And they require you to install a water heater timer so the water heater will be OFF during peak-electric-load hours in the afternoon (during 100 degree summer afternoons!) So this EcoSmart water heater disqualifies me from the city's photovoltaic subsidy program. If several people were to take a shower in my home during peak-load-hours in the afternoon, we might be drawing 100 Amps @ 240V during these peak-load-hours, which is what the city does NOT WANT (we won't do this). I opted out of buying the 27 KW EcoSmart because I have a 200 Amp main breaker and I have a heat pump heater with 60 Amp electric strip coil backup heat. I figured that the 18 KW EcoSmart was not enough for me and the 27 KW EcoSmart was too much (I figured I could blow my 200 Amp main breaker if someone was using a hairdryer (10A), the electric strip backup heater was on (60A), the dryer was running(30A) and then someone took a shower(112A for the Eco-27)). The Eco-24 seemed Goldilocks-just-right. Final note: my electric bill last month was $52, the lowest in memory for this all-electric home. Overall I am very happy. I give it 5 stars.

Good product.
I had electrician to provide 3x40 amp. circuits. Fortunately, my brother is a PRO!! :) Plumbing does not require a pro. I have installed without any "professional installers". Gosh! how "professional you need to be in order to cut 2 3/4" copper pipes and use "shark bite" technology to install flex hoses... and teflon tape to seal connections :). Ran the water through the pipes for a minute to clear any air out of the system. All works nicely (as expected). Fine tuning the temperature now as 107F seems a bit too "cold" for me :) Keep in mind that the shower is on the second floor and the heater is in the garage. Separated by about 50ft of piping. Copper pipes work as a heat sink, so unless ALL piping in your house is insulated, you will have to continuously heat the air outside the pipes. So, account for that when you set your water temperature. Do NOT expect this be an "instant" hot water source. Logic will tell you that there is a "few" cubic inches of cold water already in the pipe that need to be pushed out to be replaced by the hot water. So. it will appear at the faucet not any sooner than the hot water from your old water heater tank. :).

Quality Control is NON- EXISTANT
This is supposed to be one of the better brands out there. Here's my background: I was a licensed plumber, a nuclear Submarine mechanic (plumbing, hydraulics, air systems, ventilation and diesel engines), I'm now disabled, but I do have the experience to install this unit without exception. I had my neighbor who is still currently a licensed electrician install this unit electrically. Here's the problem: Ordered the unit in Feb 2023 to replace a different brand heater. Had to wait until Aug 2023 to install as I expanded the bathroom to make room to install a stack washer dryer unit. Now onto install... Got the unit plumbed up and electrically installed, then charged the system. DID NOT energize the triple 40 amp circuit. Immediately the heater element tubes began leaking (2 of 3). They were small leakes, just weeping really, but the solder joints look like they were soldered by 1st graders. Then proceeded to energize the 3 40 amp circuits. Water barely heated up at all, so I called my neighbor over and had him throw his Amclaps on the elements. Behold the first element was bad. Like I previously stated, I'm disabled and on a fixed income, I cannot afford to just replace a faulty unit straight from the factory. VERY dissappointed. I sure hope that customer service will make this right, but I'm highly suspect of that considering the other reviews I've read.

Very pleased with the ECO 24.
Purchased and installed the unit 9 months ago. I wanted to hold off on the review until I had a chance to have my family use the heater for an extended period of time. The unit services a shower, Laundry room and bathroom sink. I replaced another manufacturers "whole house" tankless water heater with the ECO 24. We have been using tankless for 11 years. Tried 2 other types before the purchase of the ECO 24. We live in county foothills above Phoenix / Scottsdale about 600ft. higher in elevation than the valley. In the winter we get on occasion a light dusting of snow and often have below freezing temps. The ECO 24 had no problems at all. As a matter of fact, We have a 1300 sq ft. log home I have been building for 10 years located in northern Az. where winter snow accumulation average is about 60 inches. This would be a perfect unit for this house too. The other units we had were .........extremely sub par..........a constant maintenance pain..............compared to the ECO 24. The ECO 24 holds temperature very well. Fluctuation is virtually non existent. The GPM flow at temperature is fantastic. Often running the shower and washing machine at the same time. Temperature controls are simple to use and the digital temp display is a nice feature. The unit was easy to install and instructions were simple to understand, clearly written. There are a couple tutorials on the net also. As of right now we are satisfied customers and I will buy buying another.

Three years later. . . .
I read many negative reviews. This is an honest assessment. I needed a plumber and electrician to install it. You MUST install a separate power box for the unit. It has already paid for itself in lower electric and water bills. I added the suggested filter and changed it after six months. I also flushed it out at the same time. Water pressure has been steady. The only danger is being late due to staying in the hot shower too long! UPDATE: 6.4.2025 -- Recently, I lost water pressure. When I purchased the unit, I bought the recommended Kelaro flushing kit, and the Aqua Pure filter. It is recommended to change the filter every 6-12 months. I let it go way too long this time. Today, I flushed the unit and there was ZERO sentiment. I changed the filter and water pressure has returned! The filter kept the unit CLEAN. I had my plumber add it with the initial installation. My only regret is not paying extra money to have it installed in the garage instead of the crawl space. Due to the separate power box, I have NEVER had problems with electricity to the unit.

Worth the money
I just realized I've had this unit for almost 9 years. The electrical work was the most expensive part, which I reasoned was a one-time cost since converting from tank systems. I also paid for a sub-panel placed next to the unit makes it convenient to shut-off. The money spent was worth it. I think the ECO 24 has paid for itself in electric savings over the years. Overall it's been worry free, more so then tank systems I've had in the past. You do have to consider water pressure & a few extra minutes to get hot in the winter, but it's endless hot water once primed. If it broke tomorrow, I'd would seriously consider the ECO 27.
