Oh, glorious heel! How do I love thee? Like these socks love my feet. Which they do.I would call these seriously snug. Not overly attached, but comfortable. These socks, like your best girlfriend, gives you enough space to be yourself, while keeping your toes warm.As soon as I opened the package, I could feel the fine fabric against my fingers. I could sense the fine weave and fuzziness that heralds great socks. I placed them in the washing machine, and I was stunned that the machine started humming. Of course my immediate reaction was that it thought the socks were tasty. However, it turns out that the noise actually came from the dryer. Still, the washer didn't eat them and made them sparkly clean - well, as sparkly as black socks can be, anyway.Once I got the laundry out of the dryer and folded it, I saw these socks, adorned at the top of a pile of shirts, pants and underwear, like the pinnacle of top of a crown and immediately put them on my feet. Clearly, these socks are not destined for high places in my basement. However, they were warm, still radiating their soggy heat from the dryer. As soon as I had them over foot, I felt like I had put my foot in the mouth of an angel. Obviously, the socks were not dry, just warm and moist. After putting them back in the dryer, they came out dry, and putting them on was like hugging a warm pillow. Without any dampness this time. I probably should pay more attention to my laundry when folding, but that's not a matter for this review.I've been wearing these socks every opportunity I get, and I enjoy every minute of it, assuming I'm paying attention to my feet. Since it isn't summer yet, I won't be able to tell you how they fare in warm weather, but here in the beginning of spring, they're great, and I will probably buy this pair again when my other black socks wear out.TL;DR: 5/5 Would Wear Again. Just not wet.

Comfortable socks with Carhartt quality
These socks are the perfect "do it all" sock. They're thin enough that they don't get too hot in the summer (for crew socks, that is) but also warm enough that I can comfortably wear them with a pair of boots in the winter. The size that I wanted (medium) was out of stock so I had to get large, but they still fit very well and I have had no issues regarding scrunching or discomfort. These are definitely worth the few extra bucks over some crap fruit of the loom socks.

Well fitting socks that appear to be quite durable
I was looking for socks to replace the Gold Toes that I used to buy, which are now made to lower standards. I am a size 9 1/2 wide, and these fit comfortably without being too tight. They appear to be well made, with reinforced toes and heels, and a vented top for better comfort and dryer feet. The socks stay on the calf quite well, and don't slide down during the day. As most guys know, the heels tend to be the first area to wear out in most socks. Here's a tip to better sock life that most guys, including myself, may not have thought of, and wouldn't dare to mention to their friends.Guys heels tend to be rough as sand paper, and could easily be used as weapons to slice open delicate skin! The rough, callused heel skin will break down the fibers of even the best socks, which always leads to holes. Borrow your wife's/girlfriend's foot stone and attack those shards of dry skin on your heels while in the shower. Towards the end of your shower, after your feet have had a chance to soak for a while, aggressively rub the stone over your heels and big toes. Do this a few days in a row initially to remove most of the roughness, then just once or twice a week. Make sure to rinse the stone after use to remove the evidence that you used her stone on your nasty feet.If you don't have a foot, or pumice, stone, get one of these on Amazon so that you don't have to ask someone at the store, which can be just as embarrassing as getting her those important things down that certain aisle!Cuccio Earth Lava Pumice StoneAquasentials Pumice Stone (4 Pack)And after showering, right before you put your socks on, use a good lotion on your feet.O'Keeffe's Working Hands Cream + O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet Cream :: Value PackI feel less manly after typing this review, but had to take one for the team to help us all get more life out of our socks, and save money for the stuff that we really like to do. Have a beer in my name to thank me!

Different as of April 2021. Thinner material, too stretchy.
I've bought the gray and black versions of these socks the past couple years. Loved them - good fit (XL size 14), lasted a long time, comfy, etc. Yeah, well now they're different for 2021, as several other people have noted. I just ordered more gray socks to replace some that wore out over the winter, and they're thinner and stretchier now with less cotton content than previous versions. They still fit, but they stretch when sliding foot into my shoes. I can just tell that these are going to wear out quicker. They're almost as thin as dress socks now.I should have suspected something when the price also dropped significantly compared to my past orders. I keep stuff like this in my "saved for later" list and order more when I see a significant drop in price. Anyway, they're still okay, just not what I was expecting. I'm not jaded enough to throw these out, but I'll look at other brands going forward depending how long these last. It is just a shame because you'd think a brand like Carhartt would want to be known as solid/rugged versus cutting costs to save money. Alright, taking my Karen hat off now. Hoping their manager reads this. ;)
