Nirvana - A Tour Diary: My Life on the Road with One of the Greatest Bands of All Time

Fun read
A personalized account of a band caught up in the dizzying ride to top! This book tells anecdotal stories of Nirvana as Smells Like Teen Spirit propels these three barely known musicians into the public eye.

Needs more Nirvana!
Focused way too much on experiences with his own band Captain America. That is perfectly fine for framing certain events, but when the book is supposed to be about Nirvana, and there's very long stretches without any Nirvana... that's kind of a problem.

Nirvana Drum Roll
I enjoyed the Nirvana book and felt the author wrote an entertaining account of his time together with the band. Not only was the book a good read to anyone interested in Nirvana, but the book got me into new bands, including one band that the author played with. Nice job overall! A recommended read

A GREAT READ
The funny, positive- & often touching- Kurt/Nirvana road stories doesn't make this a great book. The fact that 20 yrs later the author is still in awe of that short tour makes this a great book.Nicely done Andy!

Couldnt finish
Ok....so I'm a big nirvana fan, posters and all. However, I thought this book barely had any stories about the actual band and focused more on the author than anything. Only a couple direct things about the band are mentioned and most of it is filler and I couldn't even finish the book because it was so boring. Not what I signed up for, just thought it would be more about the band and not the authors personal ambitions....and I know that's a crazy thought. Wish I had know the book was hot garbage before I spent my money.

Decent
Another perspective from someone on the level, which is refreshing in contrast the tripe that comes out of the mouth of people like Charles Cross and Danny Goldberg.

An eye opening read.
An eye opening look at not only Nirvana but life on the road. It's an interesting read for all music fans as we all go see them live, but we rarely think about life on tour for the artists and those who make up their tour crew. This book takes you inside and makes you really appreciate those who work in the industry.

Top 3 Nirvana / Cobain books out there
There's a line on the book that sums it perfectly "I realized as I jotted ideas that I no longer needed to imagine what it was like for bands to have a huge hit. I was sitting in the eye of the storm, somewhat protected, in a surreal place, capturing my thoughts and looking at a small skinny guy who just like me, was trying to think of what to write next."Very well written and captivating it gives you a glimpse of what happened during the European tour just before Nirvana exploded into tremendous success. In a way it sets the ground from a what happened to Cobain less than 3 years later.

One of the best music books out there! Just buy it!!
I loved this book and I'm already thinking of re-reading it. It's refreshing to read a book about Nirvana that doesn't centre on the drama in Kurt's life and doesn't paint Kurt as some mythical saint like saviour of rock. Andy is clearly passionate about music and looks back on his time with Nirvana with fond memories but doesn't sugar coat it either. I actually enjoyed the stories of his individual experiences more than his tales of the band. He is very skilled as a comedy writer and it feels as though you’re having a chat in the pub with one of your best mates, telling you his tales of life on the road. I can't recommend this book enough. Hilarious at times but also painfully sad towards the end. It's a must for any music fan, not just the Nirvana fans.
