Completely covers my gray hair and it makes my hair shiny, thick and healthy!! Love this product!!
I was looking for a chemical free alternative for dark brown hair dye. Initially I tried the Henna Cream Chocolate color, but it was too light on my white roots and the reddish brown color did not blend with my dark brown hair. My second try was using the Dark Brown color which also has red undertones which became more obvious especially in sunlight every time I washed my hair. I was determined to try again as the other benefits of using Henna Cream were numerous and I was really hopeful I could find the right color for me, which I finally did when I tried the Sura Brazil Black Henna Cream.Realizing that all of the Brown Shade Hennas have a red undertone, I tried the Black Henna because I knew it does not have any red undertone and it blends perfectly with my long dark brown hair. My hair grows fast and my roots come in pure white which looks horrible with my dark hair. Using the Black Henna every 3 weeks to touch up my roots works perfectly for me and it completely covers my gray. It also makes my hair really shiny and healthy looking when I use it, Henna is a natural dye and it does gradually wash out, you will see color run off each time you wash your hair and may see some discoloration on your pillow slip if your head sweats at night...but, GOOD NEWS, any color on your pillow washes out. Also, because Henna Cream is gentle on your hair, you can apply it to all of your hair if you are looking for extra body and shine. If you tried that with regular hair dye, you would end up with dry brittle split ends and color build up ( especially on dark hair)Is really IMPORTANT to prewash your hair and apply the Henna Cream to damp hair. If you use a lot of hair products like hair spray, mousse etc, you may want to use a clarifying shampoo first, or a natural clarifier like lemon juice and water. The cleaner your hair is when you apply your Henna Cream, the better your result will be. Do not apply to dry dirty hair, you will not get a good result! After applying my color, I put on the plastic cap that comes in the box and an old knitted hat to keep my head warm and help the color set up better. I usually leave it on for a few hours while I clean house or watch a movie..BUT, I have used it and left it on for 45 minutes when I was in a hurry, and still get great results.I have been using this product for a year now and my hair has never looked as thick and healthy as it does now. My hair is long, curly and shiny and I get complimented on it often. I can honestly say that when I was using chemical dyes, my hair had slit ends, was dull and frizzy. Numerous people who ask about my hair have also switched to Henna Cream and gotten the same great results. If you can't find the right color of Henna Cream to match your hair, don't be afraid to experiment and mix colors together to get the result you want. If you end up with a color you hate, simply cover all of your hair with mayonnaise, cover it with a plastic cap or Ratana wrap and leave it on overnight or all day and shampoo and rinse it out. Follow up with an apple cider vinigar rinse and try again....no harm no foul... the Mayonaise removes most of the color and the vinigar rinse removes any oily residue from the mayo.Henna Cream is the best thing I have ever used on my hair! Love It!! I have also started using the Surya Brasil Reatorative Shampoo and leave in conditioner. All and all, love these products too!

The color was redish brown, not mahogany
I've used this product, in a different shade, before and loved it. I bought golden brown at Whole Foods this summer. Perfect. I have no.7 blonde hair (dark blonde) with lots of incoming grey.I ordered the mahogany for low lights and golden brown for touch up of grey roots. The mahogany was a light reddish brown with several areas of dark ash. In other words, it didn't look much different than before I dyed it, only now I have dark ash blotches. The mahogany was for an event we are attending. Disappointed that I won't have the dramatic undertones for the Haunted Soiree (but my dress I ordered for the event went from Amazon prime- October 11th delivery to December 23rd, so I don't even have my costume for tomorrow night).I accidentally ordered Swedish blonde for the roots instead of golden brown. Instructions do say it won't cover it, and it didn't (wrong color, my fault, but I tried it anyway). It leaves your hair very soft.Instructions are vague on opening the bottle. It needs to be snipped in order to use the applicator tip, but how to do so without using scissors (no metal)??Delivery of the mahogany was great. Arrived the day it was supposed to and in good condition. The Swedish blonde arrived 2 days after my account said it was delivered. The box was completely smashed. However, I think this may have been on the postal service side. We had a lot of what seemed like old mail (expired coupon) along with the Swedish blonde henna all crammed into our mailbox one day. As if days worth had been withheld and all delivered at once a few days later. In the future. I'll order the golden brown as I was really pleased with that color. I don't know why the mahogany didn't take nor why I have these ash blotches (about 3" diameter). The blotches are underneath at neck line so I can hide it until I fix it.The product is a good product. Choosing the right shade is key.

Amazing hair color!
I have never used henna on my hair and was nervous about trying it. Have followed the instructions and the color is absolutely gorgeous! Full, bold, natural bronzed honey color. I am committed to using this forever!

Not red- more of a copper color.
I was expecting a reddish color from the mahagony color. Left more of a copper brown color in my dark brown hair.Easy to apply and did a good job covering the grey, but not was not the color I wanted.

I used hot water because it seems to dissolve the powder better, and it's advisable to keep more water nearby ...
If you're looking for a hair dye that you don't need to 100% commit to, then this is ideal. Basically this is a finely milled powder that is a "just add water" recipe. I originally bought two of these - one to guinea pig on myself as I wanted to use on an aunt who has severe emphysema and I had to be sure the smell wasn't going to be particularly strong or 'fumey'.All the user really needs to do is add the powder to a mixing bowl and then water to create the dye and then apply. I used hot water because it seems to dissolve the powder better, and it's advisable to keep more water nearby because if you're not fast enough you'll find the henna in your bowl begins to dry out quickly (this is also good if you find the product running out before you've finished your hair, you can thin the mix out to make it stretch a little). While the instructions call for a thick paste-like consistency, a slightly runnier consistency will still work and spread better, especially with longer hair. Henna is very difficult to work with as it dries very quickly and goes grainy like drying mud (be warned, do not use over a carpet or rug and keep some wet wipes or cloths nearby as it does get messy) - so do this in a bathroom or kitchen - when it starts to dry, little crumbs of dry henna fall everywhere. The product is slightly whiffy - very spicy and not pleasant (sort of like curry, but not sweet) but it is tolerable and it isn't fumey so ideal for people with lung conditions who can't manage conventional dye.Application is easier at the roots with a tinting brush but fingers work fine. Unlike hair dye, this does not just run and brush through hair, so it requires patience and willingness to practise.Best results are left in for a few hours under the plastic cap provided, and it's advisable to perhaps use some latex gloves as the ones provided aren't great. It does wash out easy enough, although it leaves a horrendous mess so if you don't have a shower head, it might be worth buying one or finding someone who'll let you use their shower - I wouldn't recommend washing henna out over a sink, trust me.After washing out the henna, you don't need shampoo or conditioner to finish the treatment. The hair has an odd almost dry texture to it at first until it dries which worries you a bit at first, then you find it is sleek, soft, and easy to untangle once dry. The condition of your hair vastly improves and the colour looks lovely, rich and multidimensional (it truly sparkles when the sunlight hits it) without the dye clinging to the scalp or skin.Golden brown comes out slightly chestnut at first (especially if let to oxidise for a good while) but fades to a softer golden shade later. It does look lovely and shiny and very healthy. I've used it three times now and will continue as I feel it won't wreck my hair.In my experience this didn't cover my auntie's dark grey hair that well (but wasn't on for more than an hour) but did leave a bit of a golden brown tone about it...but on my dark blonde hair it worked fabulously and looks very rich - the key is longer developing time, the longer the better, and the length of time also improves your hair condition as henna repairs broken hair a little and smooths out split ends.Highly recommend trying if you're adventurous and want to try something without committing to permanent colour.

It was a generous amount
Beside being a generous amount it only worked as a semi permanent colour. Within two hair washes the whole thing was gone.....

Again I wasted money at this point I really didn't have just ...
I've used the brand before, normally I went for the shade "Golden Brown" and that colour was always rich and warm with the slightest red in it (and darker red if I left it in longer), but about three weeks ago I decided I wanted a slightly more intense red and I tried his brand in the "cream" form in this same "red" shade. Needless to say, it came out in literally a few washes and literally left me with NO pigment after about three days. I spoke to the brand's customer service who basically gave me the spiel "Oh the cream doesn't last long" and "it leaks out easily" (funny how it doesn't say on the box). They also tried to convince me my "shampoo" was the problem (nope, the colour was just coming out without any shampoo). They suggested I use this powder instead as it is more pigmented and stays in longer.Again I wasted money at this point I really didn't have just to try and hide my greys a bit and put a bit of warmth into my hair, having had such a good experience with the Golden Brown powder, I figured this had to work. I spent HOURS with this in my hair, noting that it had no red pigment in the powder at all, which to be honest seemed fairly odd to me. But I figure it might be under the henna working into my hair like a chemical reaction, I'm confident it'll work out, so I wait (four hours) and then wash it out...NOTHING. Not a single tiny bit of pigment is on my hair. I'm very annoyed having spent nearly £20 in a month on two of this brand's products to get the same result of natural colour. Yes, the condition is fantastic, but I could have easily done that with leaving my hair to soak with argan oil for a few hours.I do NOT recommend this shade, nor the cream in this colour. To be honest, pretty done with this brand. I don't have money to waste and this brand has burned me twice.

covers greys perfectly!
I bought this product in an attempt to cover the ever increasing amounts of grey hair on my head. I hoped would give a highlighted effect on my dark brown hair. The plan was that I would use a henna product to colour my hair which would condition it as well, rather than using a chemical dye which would ruin the condition of my hair and is potentially toxic. I had previously tried the henna cream version of this product in golden brown but I found the henna powder was easier to apply and clung more closely to the hair which gave a better result for covering my grey hairs. The plan worked beautifully. My hair had a beautiful chocolate brown colour with golden brown highlights where I had previously had white/grey hair. It feels much thicker and is very shiny and soft. I left it on longer than specified, for 3 hours as I had heard that white/grey hair which had previously been very dark in colour is harder to dye. Also I was used to leaving henna on for many hours when I used it before so the time specified did not seem enough (I think it was 1 hour which is amazing for henna powder). The colour lasted about two months. This is a fabulous product and another to add to the arsenal of must haves!
