Q: Does this bowl have vertical sides or is it slightly tapered outwards towards the top?

I would say that this bowl is practically vertical with an added rim at the top. I really like it because it's the only round bowl I could find that takes a ten inch dinner plate. I hope this helps.

Q: Will it take a 11" / 28 cm dinner plate please

It is just over 13 inches (34 cms) externally, across at the widest part, with the slightest taper to the base. Internally, it is 30 cm at the top but just under 27 cm approx at the base.

Q: Will this fit a normal sized sink

Yes. We have two standard sized sinks and it fits great in both.

Q: Could i use this for a mini pond

I suppose you could. Obviously it would freeze in the winter because it is so shallow. I have an outside pond with a variety of fish which includes a pump UV and filter but I guess you may just want this as a water feature? Even so the water will soon turn green unless you have some form of pump and filter set up. On the other hand it is so small that you could simply empty it and replace it with clean water but if you have any fish in this very small pond you will need to de-chlorinate the water. I am probably going way over the top here but ponds can be rather complex and it has taken me several years to get things right and I am still learning. Hope this helps.
