this product is very easily inhaled into the lungs and the product warning specifically ...
I bought this product because I have many small 'bumps" (possibly ingrown hairs) on my arms and legs. I was hoping this product would help exfoliate the skin and allow the hairs to grow more freely and it has done exactly that! I'm 26 years old have have had this problem for as long as I can remember. I thought those bumps would forever be something I had to deal with but thanks to Tend Skin my arms and legs are softer than ever!!! Application method: I saw a comment where someone said they put the product in a spray bottle and than spray it onto the skin rather than apply it with a cotton ball/round and thought the idea was genius BUT after trying it I realized that once sprayed, this product is very easily inhaled into the lungs and the product warning specifically states not to inhale the product. After trying a few different methods of application I found that the easiest way for me is to fill a small, plastic container (the container I use looks a lot like the little cup you pee in at the doctor's office) about half way with Tend Skin Care Solution and then stuff as many cotton rounds as I can fit into the container. I put the lid on the container and set in on the counter upside down over night so that the Tend Skin Care Solution can drip down, saturating all of the cotton rounds (if for some reason all of the cotton rounds aren't fully saturated by morning I just pour a little more solution into the container - no biggie) and voila! After showering and allowing my skin time to fully dry I use a few of the saturated cotton rounds to wipe the skin where I shaved. I let it dry for a minute or so and than apply lotion as I normally would. Overall, great product! I have bought it several times and will continue to buy!

Finally... after 16 years
UPDATE 1/2018 Yep. Still swear by this. Still have folliculitus and this is still the best bet against it. Even had 2 prescriptions from the dermatologist that weren't worth it. It's upsetting they seem to only treat small areas for short durations. ANYWAY, I wanted to post an update because a few questions from people wondering how often THEY should use tend skin. But it's hard to say cuz it took me a while to figure out for myself. Safe bet is I would say start off with once a day after the shower. But really it depends on how often and you shave and how your skin feels. Not to mention other factors... I made a point to switch to more breatheable clothing which helps. Otherwise, I do the very simple approach of react to first symptoms. if I feel that my legs are itchy, warm, or painful in some way- I'll normally take a minute to put of this on the parts that are bothering me. Otherwise long term care is best without overdoing it. If it's not enough after a week or two, increase it... or vice versa if that's your deal. Don't forget to moisturize - especially hands! UPDATE 5/2014 Oh how I wish this product was on subscribe and save. Going from "hopefully" shaving once a month to shaving multiple times a week has made a world of difference in my life. After spending a few months with the twice a day treatment, my legs were in a good enough spot that I only need to do it once a day after showering. I've gone from having only a few spots on my legs sore free, to having maybe a few sores on my legs. Scars are finally fading and I can wear shorts, skirts and swimsuits and feel amazing - NOT mortified. It seems trivial, but if you had to hide half of your body for most of your life, you'd understand the joy I'm feeling. Only downside is that this stuff will dry out your skin with excessive use, be sure to moisturize if you use it regularly. Original (gross) review A terrible combination of things to have, is a permanent state of "warm" (sweaty) and having extremely thin hair. Ever since I started shaving 16 years ago, I've developed an embarrassing, annoying, and painful condition called Folliculitis. Google it, it's pretty. All over my legs I have, essentially, a severe case of ingrown hairs. The *entire* length of both outside calves and inside thighs are the worst, nearly every square *millimeter* covered in scars or abrasions or both. If I'm lucky, I can shave once a month. I'm not normally that lucky. When I do shave, I get a good day of mild pain (from not shaving more than monthly lol), and then for the next 2 days, I will be in severe pain, and then the next 3 weeks I'll be "recovering" as my hairs go thru the cycle of getting trapped, tweezed, and then healing. Recently, I tried shaving twice in two weeks, and suffered the worst outbreak I've had in years. This isn't just an inconvenience, sure I have only worn shorts in public once in 10 years (and even then was just for an hour), but I can't even wear jeans for more than a few hours because it aggravates it. The one time I had to wear a swimsuit got me constant stares as I'm sure everyone in the hot-tub worried I had some nasty rash that would spread. Every doctor who has seen my lower legs all ask about it. Even the same doctor from year to year. I know you have advice that will help me. Believe me, everyone has advice for treating their mild occasional ingrown hair problem. But understand I've been living with this daily for 16 years, and until you've had 3 boils on your legs simultaneously, please don't patronize my pain by suggesting a "sensitive skin" shave gel or the sort. I've done it all. Hell, the only reason I didn't try tend skin, was thinking it was prescribed, and I have crappy insurance so I wasn't ready to pay for that. So I've tried shaving with every store bought shave gel/foam, Nair/Veet, epillation (yes all of my legs and underarms) and even waxing (which took mostly skin and left the hair - did I mention my thin hair?). I've tried home laser electrolysis kits in utter desperation. Now I'd say the majority of hairs removed from my legs are with tweezers when I can't take the pain and itch anymore. I've used every on shelf lotion, even extreme things like using varying degrees exfoliant on my legs (thinking dead skin on top was trapping the hair, it wasn't), and covering my entire legs in toothpaste (fluoride dries out the infection). Unfortunately, even NOT shaving, I'll still get a handful of sores every week. I've gone 4 months without shaving, it was horrible. Using tend skin: I bought this stuff a while back, and tried it a few times, by using it only immediately after shaving. Right away, I could see that the infections slowed, but the hairs were still ingrown. I was so jaded by years of being let down, I just thought that was the best it could do and decided it wasn't good enough to use more seriously. I was also afraid of using it more liberally in fear it would deplete the moisture in my skin and make it harder for my hairs to get out. Then after that two shaving sessions in two weeks, I didn't care how dry my legs became, I wanted the pain gone! I started using this twice a day, and I fully believe the only reason the "worst outbreak" was gone within a 10 days is because of this stuff. So I decided to give this a real serious shot. I now use this stuff twice a day for the week after shaving, and at least once a day from there on. Not only are the infections next to NONE, a lot of the hairs are emerging on their own. As I type this, my legs are the *clearest* they've looked in 16 years. I can't even put into words how ... impossible this is. It's actually making me tear up Yes, the smell is strong, and it can be slightly stingy at first (I call it "extreme aftershave"). And because I'm using it on my legs, at this rate I'll probably be spending a small chunk of change from using it daily. Especially if I may be able to shave more (more days spent with double applications... but I'm too scared to try that again anytime soon). It's also kinda troublesome to apply, I ordered the roll-on, but I don't think that will help with legs. My legs haven't dried out, I think my application hand has a bit tho, so I'll just start using gloves and/or lotion. I mean really. The itch, pain and embarrassment of your entire lower body, or a slightly dried out palm? I know what I'm choosing. Anyone who can relate to a fraction of what I go thru, I highly advise giving this stuff a *serious* attempt. A 4oz bottle should last long enough for a couple weeks, even on legs.

This product has so many uses! I will never be without it!
I originally bought this product to reduce shaving bumps and irritation, and it works well for that, but it turns out to have many more uses. I find that it also reduces irritation and prevents pimples/ingrown hairs if I put it on directly after I pluck my eyebrows. No more painful breakouts there! Speaking of breakouts, I know that you're never supposed to pop or pick at blemishes, but every now and then I do. If I put this product on the area after, the irritation is noticeably lessened and I feel like it speeds the healing time. Pretty cool! The best thing about this product, though, is that I replaced my underarm deodorant with it. Sounds weird, right? Well, it works for me and for my husband - we've been using it for over a year now and both prefer it to traditional deodorant. No more deodorant residue on clothing, no crappy "sport" or "flower" smell, no more clogged pores under the arms! I must warn you, though, that this is only a deodorant. It has no antiperspirant properties, which is fine with me but may be a dealbreaker for others. Plan accordingly! This stuff seems to be mostly isopropyl alcohol. It stings for a minute or so if you apply it to wet skin. There is no sting on dry skin. For best results, I recommend also buying the refillable roll-on. The roll-on is easier to use, and doesn't waste any product the way that using cotton balls does. Try it - you too may be hooked for life!

I have only been using it for about two weeks but so far I am loving it for at least two reason: 1. It significantly improved the state of the ingrown hairs I have been strugling with for about half of a year. Prior to this, I have been exfoliating and hydrating like crazy but with almost no results. While it hasn't improved the appearance of dark spots left behind on my legs (I am spot treating that with Scarfix), it did help help the existing ingrown hairs spring out. After just two weeks I was able to easily pluck them out without damaging my skin! For me, that's amazing, considering the lenght of some of those rascals. 2. It prevented me from getting the dreaded chicken skin after waxing. The only thing I don't really enjoy is the smell. It doesn't bother me, but it is very noticeable. I wouldn't apply it and then just go out and about. I'll come back with an update on this.

Good product for men who get bad razor bumps or ingrown hairs on their neck. It does sting on first few applications but works well.
