Soooo much easier and better than a manual hole punch. My students use it and because it is electric they don't mash it like they would a manual hole punch. A light press on the front top of the hole punch and wow!. Only downside might be that there are no guides for exact punches on multiple sets of papers. Doesn't bother me and I've worked that out. Wish I had purchased one sooner. By the way, I have one for home and one for my classroom.

Rarely do I write product reviews because most products are just O.K? However on that rare occasion when I do run across what I feel is an exceptional item, I will speak out. The Swingline Optima 20 Electric Paper Punch deserves my recognition. I was killing my hands and wrist punching holes for my binders. I started looking on the “net” for a solution and came across the Swingline product on Amazon. I read the reviews. Some good, some…not so much! It wasn’t cheap, but then I don’t usually buy cheap. I figured for what they were asking, it better be decent. Well, I am here to tell you, it’s more than decent. Not only is it well design but it looks good, so far for me it is working flawlessly. All I can tell you is that the folks having problems with this hole puncher have not read the instructions, or they could have gotten a defect. S**t happens! Twenty (20) pages is its maximum, not 30, 40 or anything else you try to shove in it. And I don’t need it to be adjustable. I’ve had mine about a month, and it works like a hot knife through butter. One person complained because they still had to press the top. ROFLMAO! I don’t need them to try and put in an electric eye and jack up the price to $200. A two year old can press that puppy! Get one and save yourself some work. Can’t believe I haven’t gotten one long ago. TJ PS: I am updating this review and attaching two photos. Swingline has updated this "punch", model 74520. I received the one on the left which is not shown on Amazon yet. It was delivered from OfficeMax which I understands gets Swinglines newest first. IMHO this new design is even better, especially for the poor folks that still have to push down on the top! Another reviewer said it was too loud…really? LOL! Get one feel the relief!

I ordered this product, because I am the choir secretary at my church. I hole-punch several music pieces a day, and really wanted something easier on the hands. I love this hole-puncher!! All I do is slide the music selection in and press down on the top of the puncher. I am able to fit usually two music pieces in (roughly 10 pages each) and they hole-punch easily. Any more then that, the puncher makes a crazy noise to let me know it cannot handle any more. But usually I know to only put in two pieces at a time. Clean up is a breeze and pretty mess-free. This puncher was half the price on Amazon compared to a Staples, and I am glad to have purchased it!!

Arrived earlier than expected and no product damage. Nice addition to my office decor. Seems to be well-constructed. Works nicely but when I ordered this, I didn't think I had to push down on anything. Thought I could just slide the paper in and the hole punch would work automatically. I've seen some newly constructed manual hole punchers where they require less pushing effort than the old-fashioned kind but I got an electric hole puncher so I wouldn't have to push down at all. That said, having an electric hole punch where I have to push down seems to defeat the purpose to me. Perhaps I did not read the description well enough before I ordered this particular model...
