Note for buyers
This product DOES work, however do not let the photo of the test/continuity lights fool you. The lights do not all light up at the same time proving a good connection. One light will come on for your initial test and then you must turn on your turn signals for the turn signal test light to light up. I actually thought that I did not have a good connection and so I sodered mine for re-assurance only to find out that those lights function as I stated above. That little tidbit would have been nice to know pre-frustration but overall it is a good product and now mine is already overcoming the reviews that worry about the connection working its way loose. I like the peace of mind that the solder brings because you will rarely know if the connection works its way loose until you need your lights which would be at night.

Easy way to fix trailer wiring
my trailer wire got pinched at the hitch and I was looking for a cheap, easy fix. This was all of that. Some of the reviews say that if the wire is too small, the cutting connectors won't work. This is true, but all you have to do is take your wire strippers and pre-cut the insulation. That's what I did and it worked fine.

Did not cut through wires
I tested it after assembly and it did not cut through the wires. Hint: Strip about 1/4 to 3/8 inches of the insulation off. Then fold the bare wire back then install. Can't just use the bare wires because they don't get held in while closing the top, that is why you need to fold them back. Once you do that it is fine.

Too Good To Be True??? Not Worth The Trouble!
The 2 things I liked about this was the fact that there were LED test lights on this connector to indicate that the connection was good and how easy it was to install. I needed to replace the wiring harness end on my boat trailer because the original end got damaged during a fishing trip I took my boat on. This connector came up during my search and for the most part the reviews were very positive and from what I see in the photos, looked REALLY easy to install. It was very easy to install and got my trailer lights working again but for only the testing phase. Fast forward the clocks 4 weeks later and went to connect the boat trailer up onto my vehicle to go fishing and guess what??? NO TRAILER LIGHTS! So with the process of illimitation I was able to find the fault at this connector that I installed. Internally something failed and caused a short causing the fuse on my vehicle that controls the lights to fail. Replaced the fuse and the same issue happened. This time the fuse did not blow and the LED test lights on the connector were not lighting up as designed to do so. Only the ground light was properly lit and the remaining LEDs were very dimly lit which indicated to me that there was a short somewhere internally. I replaced this connector with another generic connector and what do you know??? MY TRAILER LIGHTS WORK PROPERLY NOW!Quality seemed to be good, but the internal circuitry is bad.Easy to install and as long as you have good wiring to work with.Would I recommend this... sadly, no.

Really Pleased
My old connector came undone and was damaged. This connector really seems to have had a lot of thought in its design. The wiring connection is simple enough. How you grip it to pull it out of the socket was well designed. You grip the plug in such a way as to not grab the wires and pull with those. The LED lights help me know if all the wiring is hot. And they even included connector grease. The price is extremely fair. All in all, it seems well-made and appears US made (I hope so). Anyway, thanks for the good product.

Failed after 3.5 years
Just after the 3 year warranty expired, this failed internally. The led lights still work, but it's not sending power to the terminal. For the cost I'll probably order another one. But I'm really annoyed at how much time I spent finding the issue, for it to be the plug, that lies to you.

Easy to install
This is a great option for replacing the plug on my trailer. I liked not having to splice wires with this plug.

Easy to replace
When my original broke, I was expecting a wiring headache. I ordered this connector, and it was a charm to install, I also have 5 wire and not four, I was able to stack two on top of each other. You need to splice the wire but just enough to so it makes contact, you leave the extra wire shield there. Works great, took me less than 10 minutes to complete and connection all works. I will buy again.

Convenient Replacement
I had to replace the connector on a borrowed trailer (seems I'm always doing this for friends!). The connector (connectors, actually. I bought a supply for future friends) arrived quickly. It's high quality and the LED lights help in isolating problems. The install went well until I hit the running light circuit: many trailers have a separate wire back to the plug for each side of the lights because it's one less connection to fail. It took an extra 20 minutes to convince both wires into the knife terminals and get the cover to fit. I understand the cover part is for water resistance, but how about making the terminals bigger to accept heavier gauge or multiple wires? Overall, I'd buy these again, thanks.

Well made!
A solidly made plug with dust cover, also comes with dielectric grease for cable connection but useful for the the pin end. I got this as I'm going to bolt it in place & use another cable between car & trailer.

Hopkins 48192 Quick Fix is not that Quick, but still used it.
Pro's, good instructions, and at first looked easy to do. I followed the instructions and tried it out—1 of the 3 wires made contact with the core wire to make contact, which was the clearance lights wire. No blinkers or breaks. I tried to strip the wire with a knife to help the contacts cut through the wire sleeve which helped some but then it was sloppy and the lights were working sometimes and other times not. In the end, I just started over and stripped the wire normally and soldered in each connection. Works perfectly now.The LEDs on the connector are nice as you can see the connection is good as soon as you plug it in. I like that. I like that the connector comes with a cap to keep it clean when not using it and dry from the weather.
