Q: I have the old style speakers that have the connection that you press to push the speaker wire into. Will this work with the new style plugs?

You can use these for the speaker wire going to the receiver. Gives it a clean look and makes the wire simple; just plug in instead of screwing the caps on the wire. Also with just using the wires the possibility of fraying happens and if the frays of + and - touch it will degrade your sound. Same if the + happens to touch the chassis.

Q: Can i use these on a 12v system as power feeds? if so how many amps? looking for at least 15a on 12v

That should work fine on a 12v power supply, we use those plugs for a similar purpose on the variable power supply that we have here in the lab.

Q: Can I use with 18 gauge speaker wire

Yes 18 gauge stranded wire will work fine.

Q: how much wire insulation should i strip to fit the plug?

The instructions call for 1/2" but I found that around 3/8" made it easier to fold down over the barrel and screw on the cap/plug.
