LOVE these for pantry storage
My whole entire pantry is filled with these wonderful jars! The seals last on average of about a year with this application, but it depends on what I'm putting in. The salt always cracks after about 6-9 months, as does the yeast in the fridge, and some I've not replaced in over 2 years. The size of the opening is big enough for my hand and my husband's (though not at the same time!). I have a couple different sets of measuring cups and one set I can get even the full cup into, but the other I can only fit up to the 3/4 cup size. I bought some without handles that are narrower and deep that I can easily fit the 1 c size into, but it's easier with the handle to rotate it to get it out of the opening, rather than trying to fit my hand and handle-less cup through, so that didn't work out quite as planned. I love that they're made in Italy (not China, like all the others, which look and feel cheaper in hand), and the bails remove easily for running the glass through the dishwasher (I made the mistake of not taking them off at first and the dishwasher detergent oxidized the metal). These keep all of my bulk pantry and dry goods fresh for a long, long time and I'll keep buying more as needed as long as they're available!!

Great jars
Just received these, and so far they're better than expected. I have been searching for the right thing to use to store my dry pantry items like nuts and flours. These have a thicker glass which I like because it feels sturdy, but at the same time it's not too heavy. Seal is very tight. Feels like a great quality product. Makes my pantry look like a beautiful organized display, while keeping my food fresh. I ended up using the smallest container for some quick asian pickles I stored in the fridge. So far so good! Looking to purchase more.

Multi-functional workhorse storage.
Great storage jars. I have used them for years. Keep food really fresh for longer than any other storage solution I have tried. Close air tight. Keeps brown sugar from hardening for a long time. Keeps cereal fresh. I use them for absolutely everything and my pantry looks neat and organized. They offer real protection against pests too. Nothing can get into them and glass is the best material to keep contents well separated from ambient air. They can easily wash in the D/W thanks to their wide mouths and of course, can be used to refrigerate remnants, soups, portion sized stews etc.

Looking forward to getting more
I was looking specifically for an airtight container for my husband's ground coffee when I came across this set. I have several of Rocco Bormioli's jugs and the quality is excellent so I thought I'd give these a try and I'm happy I did. The quality is just as good as I was hoping. They really are airtight with the gasket and the glass is thick, very good quality. I was able to put a tablespoon scoop on the latch for quick access too. I love that the top of the lid is engraved with Bormioli Rocco in a small font, Fido is engraved in the center with a larger cursive font, followed with made in Italy in small font, very nice look! (The bottom is engraved with made in Italy along with the size of the jar). I'm looking forward to getting more jars to add to my collection.

Crazy about Bormioli Rocco jars!
These jars are divine. Not only are they perfectly shaped, they are extremely functional. The glass is high quality, it cleans well, the jar lid comes off easily for putting it in the dish washer, and first I bought a set to store my green juices in it and it has worked perfectly so now I got these extra ones and have no idea what I will do with them. Maybe store more juices or other types of food. The metal handle that closes and opens the jar is top notch and of best quality. I am so grateful to have found something I can RAVE about .... jars no less. Well, I can't help it. I LOVE Bormioli! :)

Attractive storage jars are air tight for dry goods
I bought a few of these jars and found that they are great at being air-tight for dry goods, so I purchased more to store all of my frequently-used baking supplies. They aren't the cheapest product, but they look very nice (like the look of the squarish jars with rounded off corners), and more importantly, they are functional. Brown sugar, which notoriously gets hard quickly, is still as soft as out of the bag for me 4 months later. I like that the jar lid is made of glass, with a metal band called a bail to hold it all together. Each jar comes with a gasket that sits between where the glass top and the glass jar fits together. I anticipate that the gaskets will need to be replaced over time. You'll need some space to store these jars because they don't stack on each other. I haven't tried these jars for canning - I stick to the Ball jars and use these for storage since these cost so much more than traditional canning jars. But more importantly, these bail type jars haven't been recommended for hot canning preservation for the past 30 years because there is no way to check that the seal is good on them. One thing I noticed is that the instructions say that if you're using for canning, to hand wash the seals without detergent. And if you do use them for canning, use a new rubber seal each time. I used Laser Waterslide Decal Paper Film-Free (A-Type) to attach labels to these jars. It was a fun and pretty simple project, but the decals did not want to bend well over the smallest size jar in this collection - took some effort. The only thing that is a negative for me beyond price is that I took the lid rings off to wash the jars (don't put them in the dishwasher or they will discolor) and after I took them apart for washing I don't feel that the bands are as sturdy afterward. They got a little bent taking apart and now on a few of the jars they will sometimes come apart when I open the lid, despite trying to bend them back into proper shape. I didn't know about it when I got them and wasn't particularly careful on the first few. Take your time to disassemble or leave them together to hand-wash and you'll be fine. Pros - Nice look of jars - Sturdy jars - Air-tight - High quality Cons - Costly - You shouldn't wash the bands, and be careful taking them apart (try to bend as little as possible) - Bands not dishwasher-safe - Not really recommended for canning - but perfect for dry goods storage - Jars can't stack on each other well Overall, I really love these jars and have bought a bunch of them. I also have more Ball jars than a person should own but use them for canning and leftovers, while I prefer these Bormioli Fido jars for storing my dry baking goods .

Great Jars
We use these for Sauerkraut and my mom loved what we were doing so we got her a set of her own. They are quality from the glass to the seals. We typically slightly loosen the pressure each day for the first 4 days to "burp" the kraut, but i'm not sure that is needed. I hold the jar at an angle while i burp it to let the gas out without the liquid... my secret technique! (ok, not so secret!) Great jars you can be proud of and will serve you well.
