The internet says Scrade closed years ago. Did someone buy trademark?

I'm no expert but I use carborundum on any type of blade. I think any type of sharpening system will work on any blade but like I said I'm no expert

how can you tell if a knife is made in america?

If it costs over a hundred dollars and is 3 inch long look carefully it might be made in the USA. There are some really good knives made in Guatemala by a company that was originally German -- they are made in America ... but Central not North.

It's called a castration/spey blade--depending on maker My great-grandfather used the one on his old Case Stockman for castrating hogs. I myself use it for cutting plastic films used to wrap many products. It can also be used to skin sheathing off wire--for the past few years, my grandfather has used a bander for castrating livestock---rendering this blade obsolete for the intended purpose. My advice--don't buy these Chinese ones, buy a good used American made knife for the same price--I paid $5 for the used 1970s USA made Imperial Stockman I have. The Chinese ones are very poor quality compared to Schrade products made in the USA or Ireland. I've got an Uncle Henry version I got as a gift of this I never even took out of the box.
