Answering Atheism: How to Make the Case for God with Logic and Charity

Thought Provoking
Excellent book by Mr. Horn. I have found his arguments very convincing and have given this book to others who do not believe in God. His other book Persuasive Pro-Life is another great book to read. For anyone with some of the questions that I used to have about the existence of a God then this is a great book to read. I'm reading this as a now Catholic and wish I had this book about 10 years ago when I originally began my faith journey. Keep an open mind and I believe you will see his arguments for the existence of God to be compelling. If you already believe in God, this book is also great because it is laid out to both strengthen your belief and better answer questions of those that ask you about God. While this isn't an exhaustive book on the subject, it is a great start. I don't know that there can even be a 100% exhaustive book on the subject because there are just too many arguments both for and against the belief in God and they span many centuries. However, this book lays out what I believe to be very good reasons why one should believe in God.

Outstanding work!
As promised, Mr. Horn presents a plethora of well-structured, meaningfully, and charitable responses to just about any objection to the existence of God. I'm left with the feeling that no reasonable, thinking person could read this well-written and engaging work and come away unsatisfied with the case for God. An actual atheist may remain unconvinced due to the inherent close-mindedness of their position, but an agnostic or non-believer in a creator God would have to hold some very spurious opinions, indeed, to put this book down (after having read it, that is) and say "meh..."I've heard the author on the radio (well, via podcast with Patrick Coffin) many times and I could literally hear his voice while I was reading this book. I would love to engage in a conversation with him on this (or any other topic).Technical issue: the end notes don't work properly...I was told I could fix it by returning and re-buying the book, but I had already loaded it up with notes and highlights and I didn't want to lose all that info...Every apologist should have arrow in his or her quiver!

Excellent apologetics resource for a general audience, sometimes a little too pithy for my taste
Trent Horn lays out clearly and concisely several good arguments for the existence of God. In a few places the book reaches only a sort of "stalemate" with atheist thought (specifically the places where it puts the burden of proof on atheism, which is difficult because it places the burden on proving a negative statement), but otherwise provides highly informative reading. The book is pithy, and occasionally sarcastic (which is a bad habit of Internet atheists, so it's too bad that Trent does the same, even in good humor). It also provides a convenient chapter summary at the end of each chapter. It's important to note that this is a popular work, not intended to be anything but a primer. For people looking for hard truths and extensive evidence, I would recommend reading the Summa and it's complimentary texts.

A Must have.. great resource for counter arguments
This book, contains a substancial amount of short but dense friendly arguments to most common objections, evaluates the line of reasoning assumed by the atheist and explains the rational alternative. It's great for argumentative resource. All of us have encounter this specific objections, and Trent Horn, explains them masterfully. On the most technical o objections that deal with scientific data of cosmology, doesn't fall short, at the end, has comprehensive advanced cosmology section that provides with deeper understanding of the earlier chapters on cosmology..

Why there is Something, more to the point, why there IS Someone
I have to say that I have read another book by Trent Horn and I am impressed and being impressed by that book led me to purchase this book. If I had this book when I was far away from the Church throughout the 90s, I would not only have come back to the faith...with his other book "Why We're Catholic"...I would have converted to the Catholic Church must faster. Trent, in my opinion, does an excellent job explaining why there is the belief in God, but explains why that belief has a better understanding life and the cosmos...and while he does sometimes verge close to being too technical in his apologetics, someone who has an understanding of C S Lewis in his theological explorations, would have no trouble reading this book. One of the ways he explores why the belief in God is the rational explanation is using questions and answers. If you team this work with his writings on Catholicism then you have done yourself a world of wisdom and faith.

Required Reading
Having a crisis of faith? Have kids who are questioning things and you don't have an answer? This book should be required reading! It is that good. And it is that important.

A well researched and concise argument for the existence of god based on logic.
Answering Atheism, by Trent Horn, is one of my first forays into the world of christian apologetic's, and I must say that i was greatly impressed by manner in which Mr. Horn presents his argument for the existence of god, as well as how respectful he was towards those resting on the other side of the argument, namely atheists and agnostics, which is not something that you always see when debating such a sensitive topic.Overall, I would highly recommend Answering Atheism By Trent Thorn to anyone interested about the logical arguments that can be raised in favor of the existence of god theism, whether they be a Christian interested in apologetic's, an agnostic who is curious about both sides of the issues, or even an atheist who is curious as to why so many people are convinced of the reality of god.So with that said, peace out, enjoy the book, and god bless.

Pretty good
Trent Horn gives arguments which are sounds and tries to defend them as best as he can. Don't get me wrong though, I ALSO disagree with somethings said in this book. But overall, I think it's a pretty good book.

A great book!
I am a Catholic. I had an atheist friend contact me recently, who I suspect has been exposed to some of the more virulent atheistic arguments. This book provides a wealth of responses to the philosophical objections to God. I feel comfortable that he was able to demonstrate that it is more reasonable to believe in God than not.He also writes clearly, but gently, so that I have no qualms about suggesting my friend buys a copy.

Nothing new under the sun
I was very disappointed, because I had been naively expecting something new and refreshing. But, no, just the same old, same old. If you have never read any of the thousands of books claiming to answer atheism before, then you would likely find this book interesting. Even more so if you are American.

Great book, it is well structured and easy to follow and understand. Trent uses creative analogies and sound arguments that at the very least make the belief in God coherent with the world we experience.
