Freshwater Kisses: A Billionaire Love Story Review: Freshwater Kisses - I love this series (called the “Kisses” series). I am a sucker for sweet romances with good writing and this entire series follows that. All of the books are written about individual couples that are all interconnected so you can read them in any order (like I did) and still find the characters that you love in all of them. Freshwater Kisses specifically follows the romance of Samantha Conners and (the billionaire) Jack Saunders. The two were best friends as children but lost touch after Sam moved because of her father’s job. Their romance picks up many years later when Sam moves back into town after a ruined sailing season (she’s an Olympic sailor). Both have their own demons to deal with but come together to help each other deal with them. I love both these characters and they are resoundingly sweet and just plain kindhearted. One of my favorite character traits of Sam’s is that she is completely selfless when it comes to her family. Jack is endearing, owns up to his mistakes and had it not been for the extravagant spending included in the book, I wouldn’t have even realized that he was a billionaire—yes with a B. They fall pretty fast and hard once things get started. There’s no unnecessary will-they or won’t-they and the best part is that they are able to come together to work through their issues rather than using them as an excuse to be apart—which is unfortunately a common theme in a lot of romance novels. Really my only complaint I have about this novel is just the billionaire part, sometimes it’s just hard to imagine one of the richest people in the world falling in love with a mere—for lack of a better word—commoner. However Jack is such a sweet guy and seemingly normal guy—again despite the extravagant spending—that the Billionaire part is just kind of something you forget about. Besides that this a great read that I read in about four hours non-stop, so I would definitely recommend adding it to your TBR list. I wrote this review for Martini Times, check it out here:[...] Review: Another great kiss - As with all Kisses books, I pick them up at release and usually have a hard time putting them down, fighting for time with the words throughout my work day and during bedtime. Freshwater Kisses had me doing much of the same, taking peeks or blazing through a chapter when I should've been reading reference materials or working on other projects after work. I've always enjoyed the writing involved in the series, it's been poignant and evocative of family life, characterization and binding ties. It's evolved over books, engaging with various characters, both main and sub characters, that are never left behind, never forgotten, and never used out of sheer convenience. While this new edition is great, the previous entry felt very well-balanced for both characters. Sam used to take sailing lessons with Robbie when they were younger, and moving changed both of their lives when they were just learning they might become more than friends. They eventually fell out of touch, Robbie settling into the life of a billionaire's son and Sam struggling to make ends meet and have sailing at the same time. This is where the book feels unbalanced. Everything Sam experiences relates to her past with loss, money problems, family, and losing her sailing partner. Being with Robbie essentially means that she always has something to be wary of and that there is always something she's at stake of losing. At the same time, Robbie has it all, he's a made man, and though he relates to her through the pain of loss, his mentions of it are few and fair between. There is no real overarching circumstance to ever truly drive him away from Sam, while the odds seem almost impossible for her the entire way through. She's constantly reaching for solid ground, he's constantly there, save a few beginning chapters. The sailing action and words combined with the jetsetting really ties things together. It gives Sam her own perspective of the world, influenced by Robbie, that we get to see change and evolve with time. Sam goes from worrying, to confidence to catharsis, and it all works. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, but I feel as though if one hasn't read the other books directly involving the Saunders family and those close to them, Saltwater Kisses and Champagne Kisses, there is something to be lost in Robbie's characterization. The sheriff swears by Robbie's rule of not mixing drinking and sailing, but from this single book's point of view Grace feels very right, why should we trust him? 4.5 out of 5.

More Kisses!
I've read all of the Kisses books (Saltwater, Rainwater, Champagne), and so when I saw that this one was released, I immediately bought it and started reading it. The one thing I really like about these books is how they all intertwine in a way, but they aren't exactly sequels, you know? You can read them in any order you want, which is nice, but the stories are combined in different ways. For this one, I really like how we get a different peek at the Saunders family. I loved Jack and Emma in Saltwater Kisses, so it was really nice to find out a little more about what's happened with some of the things there, but then having the focus point be on Sam and Robbie. I like the emotion and concept of this one. I definitely think there's a lot of interesting "realistic" qualities in it. Robbie's the younger brother of one of the most successful men in the world and... I mean, that can be a little depressing if you think about it too much, you know? The reconnection between Sam and Robbie is intriguing and intense, too. If you're looking for a date, I would probably not suggest running into someone with your boat, but you never know, I guess. It's better than a cheesy pickup line, at least? Haha. There's a lot of fire and passion between the two. Their back and forth is some of the best I read and I really enjoyed it. The ending was really nice, too, but I don't want to spoil that for you! If you've read the other Kisses books, I think you'll definitely enjoy this one. Krista Lakes has a way of making all of them fresh and exciting, while similar and familiar in some ways, too. If you haven't read the Kisses books, you could definitely start with this one. Forewarning, you'll probably want to read the rest soon after, though. They're addicting!

I have been in love with this series ever since Saltwater Kisses was released. I have loved every story so far, and this book is no exception. But out of all the books I found this one to be the sweetest of them all. This book focused on Robbie, Jack's little brother. When Robbie was younger, he had a friend named Samantha (Sam) and they always went sailing together. Sam's dad transferred jobs though and Robbie didn't see Sam again until Sam moved in with her sister and niece. Sam has created a career in sailing double-handed and has won many competitions but her sailing partner ended up getting injured and couldn't sail. Since Sam had no one to sail with, she moved in with her widowed sister Grace and her niece Avery. Sam knew that Robbie lived in that town but she didn't think that she would ever see him, but there relationship rekindled when Robbie hit her with his boat when he was sailing drunk. I love books that have the couple as childhood friends. I think that it makes the romance so much sweeter. The characters can have a connection that most people can't find. I really liked Robbie. When I was reading the other books in this series, I didn't really like him all that much because of his actions that are shown through other characters eyes. But seeing it through the perspective of Sam, someone who knows Robbie, really changed my opinion of him. He was also going through a lot with his dad being sick and eventually dying. He didn't think that his dad loved him as much as Jack because he wanted nothing to do with the family business. It did Robbie a lot of good to have Sam back in his life. She showed him what was really important. There is actually a little bit of action in this book. The other books really have just been romance, and this book still is. It just has a bit more scenes on the water since Robbie and Sam and both sailors. I also love to see the couples from the previous books. I like to see how they are making out and how their life is turning out together. Especially Rachel and Dean. I have always loved them. ;) This book is a wonderful addition to the series. I really liked seeing Robbie come out of the funk that he has been stuck in for a while. This book was a little shorter, but it was short and sweet. I find that this series is incredibly sweet. All the couples have an amazing connection and a very sweet romance. I don't know if there is another book coming in this series, but I really hope there is! Maybe a love for Grace? I don't know, but this series is too good to end. You need to read this series and this book. You will not regret it.

Sam trifft Robbie zufällig wieder, ihre Jugendliebe von früher. Natürlich sprühen gleich die Funken wieder. Nette Geschichte für zwischendurch, harmlose Romanze.
