This stuff truly shocked me with how well it works! I bought it mainly for the dye itself. (I couldn’t figure out the cap and the crochet needle-looking thing—I ended up stabbing my scalp a few times! I have incredibly fine, thin hair, which proved elusive when trying to pull it through the cap in tiny bits like that.) So, I ended up doing baby lights with foils instead.When I did my test strand, holy COW, I was shocked at the results! I have virgin hair when it comes to bleach, and haven’t dyed my hair at all in at least two years. Thankfully, I take great care of it (almost no heat styling, among other things) because I accidentally bleached over the already-bleached test strand a few hours later. It's now the blondest little strip of hair I’ve ever seen, especially on my head! I’m so thankful it didn’t fall out or anything, lol.Anyway, this pack of boxes (I got the two-pack) is super well-priced and comes with everything you need! The only complaint (which isn’t really a complaint!) is that you don’t get an actual living, breathing person to help you do your hair with your purchase, because it took me forever to do the highlights all by myself! One side of my head was brighter than the other at first because of it.Revlon really did their thing with this product and it has been a staple for years, and now I know why!First photo is where I messed up and laid the bleach on too thick, but I was able to fix this by parting my hair on a different side. I used foils and a brush and attempted baby lights by taking very small, horizontal sections of hair at a time, “painting” them with bleach, and then using the foil. If I had had another set of hands, it would have been much better, but toner has been a lifesaver. Other pics are to show the consistency and the color. Last pic is my natural color and length.

My hair is fine and short, so I get two uses out of a box (I just use a teaspoon to measure out the correct ratio and mix). The hook it comes with is trash and will break- I use a metal one from another kit. I like subtle highlights so that they grow more naturally, and I get that with this kit by just doing every other hole on the top, a few in the back, and a few on the sides. I make sure to not take too much hair through and to also comb each piece to make sure all the hair is through. My hair takes about 35 minutes to process… I check it multiple times while it’s processing to be safe. I save so much money with this kit and I honestly can’t tell the difference between these highlights and when I get it done at the salon- other than the fact that at the salon, my hair is often over processed because it is so fine and I feel that they always try to do too much!

This is my first time putting highlights on my hair myself. The directions were easy to follow. The kit has almost everything you need, besides a comb and a cape. I just used a plastic garbage bag to protect my skin and cloths. Pulling the hair through the cap is not too difficult on the easy to reach areas. But suggest having some help to reach the back and make sure you to miss any areas. I have light hair and it only took about 20 minutes to reach the desired results. After I put the lightener on the hair I pulled through the cap, I hand rubbed lightener on the lower portion of the remaining hair the get the ombré look. That work out pretty good too.

This product is very easy to use at home. I use it to refresh a blonde streak look by painting the lightening mixture onto my hair with a watercolor paint brush. The shampoo and conditioner that come with the product are top notch and produce a fluid feel and even blonde color.

Worth it, and much more. Kept putting off highlights & balayage after going natural due to $, finding the right place, and deciding exactly which to do. After I found this I decided to do it myself (after all, if it's not perfect- I'm not out hundreds and I don't have anyone to be angry with).Well it turned out great! I saved time, money, and feel super empowered!Only advice (after purchasing multiple times) is maybe to a conditioning mask ahead of time AND afterwards.

I have used this since I was 13 years old and just needed a touch-up in the winter. I'm 44 and it is STILL the best product out there!
