A Drug-Free Approach to Asperger Syndrome and Autism: Homeopathic Care for Exceptional Kids

This book can be summed up as: Homeopathy is great and can really help, but you are too ignorant to utilize it, go see a professional. If you already knew homeopathy is great and were looking for specifics on how to use it to help a child with asperger syndrome or autism (as the title suggests) it is completely useless.

On the advice of our naturopathic doctor I read this book to determine if any of the cases or stories seemed similar to my son's behavior/characteristics. She treated him with a rememdy while I waited for the book to arrive. I didn't read it for a few months, but when I finally cracked it open and got through most of it, there was a story that matched my child - right down to the fear of yetis. Of course, the remedy my wise doctor had given us was the same rememdy that the child in the book received. Our lives changed, I got to hear "I love you, Mom." I got eye contact, I got my son back. That was about 3 years ago and now my child started kindergarten. He's been on a few remedies since that first dose and we still have layers to uncover, but getting this child to speak, make eye contact and learn to control his frustrations and deal with life curve-balls and readily make friends is enough to know that the knowledge in this book is priceless, along with a damn good naturopathic doc.

Its wonderful to hear about success stories but this book is not particularly useful in helping a practitioner to be more effective in finding the right remedy for their Autistic patients.. Yes i found that finding a classical remedy can be helpful for these conditions but finding the toxin that caused the problem as discussed in Beyond Dispair by Smits was even more helpful in many cases.

Homeopathy is often mentioned in alternative treatments for ASD and autism, but usually it's only glancingly mentioned.This book fills in more detail and understanding to what Homeopathy is and how it specifically relates to these special needs children. Most of the book is filled with sample cases (some actual cases and some that are amalgams of different cases used to illustrate specific tendencies). A couple of times, I found myself crying because I related to the experiences that the parents and children have. . .and other cases which, although not applicable to my family, were interesting to read.I appreciated that it wasn't preachy. It takes into consideration the enormous exhaustion experienced by parents of high-needs children, and the ways that subtle (and not-so-subtle) family dynamics often shift when one or two family members find balance within themselves.

Our son is on the autism spectrum (PDD-NOS) and several years ago, we reached out to Dr. Reichenberg-Ullman and Dr. Ullman in hopes of finding a drug-free approach to helping our son. The results have been astounding - he has responded so well! Every single one of his symptoms has improved and homeopathy has given our boy a true shot at a typical life. We've seen an improvement with stimming, GI issues, bloating, eye contact, interpersonal relations, social skills, OCD, perfectionism, perseverativeness, anxiety, and sleep issues.If you are at all interested in homeopathy, we strongly encourage you to read this book to learn more. This book gave many many examples from clinical practice to which parents can relate. It gave the practitioner so many clinical pearls, with clear case examples. I highly recommend this and have dog-eared many pages.

I found this book encouraging for parents who have children with these diagnoses. As a lay-homeopath the case studies were insightful. Parents need to be aware that a trained homeopath is best at treating their family member.The book gives hope to those looking for help in a sadly lacking sea of treatments, especially those looking for real results without harmful drugs.

Gave me a better understanding of how homeopathy can be used for the those on the autism spectrum.

This a one of the best homoeopathic book I have ever bought. It conveys clearly an explanation of every aspect of Austism and Asperger Syndrome. I feel confident enough I can efficiently use it.

The book is good if you want information how homeopathy helps in improving symptoms of Autism and other disorders but it does not have any kind of homeopathy meds prescribed.
