Genius-Level Sudoku: Over 300 Super-Difficult Puzzles from the Japanese Masters Who Invented the Game

As good as sudoku gets.
Awesome stuff. It's kind of impossible to describe the difference between a great sudoku grid and a boring one. You don't want simple easy stuff, but you also don't want difficulty for the sake of difficulty, so to speak. Just because it involves tedium doesn't mean it's enjoyable. These puzzles are clever, or cleverly selected/edited I suppose. Kind of like the sudoku version of a well-edited crossword. Clever patterns, subtle hints embedded in the layout, really fun stuff. When you solve several of them a day for years, sudoku difficulty is irrelevant. They're all solvable. But they're not all fun. These are.

difficult and satisfying
I really enjoyed this book. I spent a year working through it. It was hard, but thought-provoking, and I got better. I haven't found another "genius"-type level that was as good as this one. Good size, and the paper was decent.

Very Challenging and fun
When they say Genius Level, they are not kidding. There are very few clues in most of these puzzles, requiring some amount of guesswork. Thankfully, the answer sheet lets you check your guesses before you get totally messed up! Very challenging and very much fun for the seasoned Sudoku nut in your family.

Looking for a challenge?
The media could not be loaded. I have been looking for a small, compact sudoku book to play when traveling. Puzzles are appropriately challenging especially if you consider yourself no longer a novice. Fun and perfect for my needs!

Challenging puzzles and hours of fun
Rating Sudoku puzzles is hard because a puzzle might be easy for one person but hard for another. This book provides about 80 puzzles rated hard, about 100 rated as Extreme and about 150 puzzles rated Ultimate. Many of the hard puzzles are fairly straight forward as long as you know how to identify candidates for cells and understand how to use pairs and triplets. Then there are a few that are more interesting. It's helpful to understand more advanced techniques such as X Wings and Swordfishes to solve some of the hard, the extreme and ultimate puzzles. I'm still working through the puzzles but haven't encountered any that would be described as "Evil". I've bought several Sudoku books, many of which were disappointing because they were simple. This book is by far one of the best set of puzzles compiled since Longo's Blackbelt series. Challenging puzzles and hours of fun!

great puzzles
Awesome selection of puzzles. Three difficulty levels. The easiest level is a good test for 'mental suduko' (no candidate write-ins permitted). The hardest level will on occasion stump and require a break. The grids could be just a bit bigger but they're big enough.
