Comfy for kitty, and seems to be working so far.
A few weeks in now, and she hasn’t caught a thing! I have a cat that loves to sit out on the patio with me, but I needed to tame her killer instinct with birds. It is costly, at $55. Now that I have it, I see that it is simply an ordinary safety collar with a little bell, along with three different brightly colored fabric "tubes," which I think would be very easy to sew at home out of brightly colored fabric. Each one is simply a 12" by 2.5" tube of fabric, open on both ends, that the collar slips into. The collar then fastens at the open ends of the tubes and the bell hangs down at the opening. There may be something about the particular colors and patterns that is effective here. In any event, I notice when I sit out on the patio, I don't hear chirping like I used to, so maybe the birds leave as soon as they see my cat in this. Either that or she's already killed all of them.

Hilarious and effective
I love these collars! My cats moved from Florida to Ohio with me and I was worried about them doing a number on our local songbird and small mammal population. First of all, it makes my cats look like absolute clowns so everyone in the neighborhood knows who they belong to. I was worried about them losing them in the thorny bushes at the edge of my property, but the two times in three weeks they have lost their collars (actually a good track record for my cats, they lose their plain collars more when they wrestle), they lost them by getting stuck in a tangle of branches (not caught in thorns) and backed out of them with the collar still done up (i have them in quick release collars). It’s also pretty easy to find these collars because they are so bright and have a reflective piping on the edge. The fabric is densely woven enough that thorns don’t catch, it retains its stiffness even after being wet, and so far my cats have yet to catch a bird! I’m really glad I got these, my cats are young and grew up as strays, and I love letting them outside to burn off energy while keeping my local ecosystem as undisturbed as possible. Great product!!

Not wide enough for long haired cats.
This collar cover likely works well for short haired cats but it's definitely not wide enough for long haired cats. It's barely visible due to the fur length of our Maine Coon cat. Unfortunately the width isn't mentioned in the description and there's no reference in the photo to be able to determine how wide it is. I wish they made one that's about another 1.5 to 2 inches wider. Also it's a bit difficult to put on because it's quite long so you have to bunch up the fabric which wants to spring back and hide the buckle clips. I'm going to have to modify it somehow so the buckles don't have to be fished out every time. With an option for a wider version for long hair cats and a design modification so that the collar buckles could be secured at the ends of the fabric tube (with a string tie?) this would be a 5 star product.

For people who love their cats and love their songbirds, too.
I love these items so much that once my cat had worn out two of the three, I re-ordered. I’ve been using these for several years now, and since their use, my cat has not gifted me with another songbird. Plus, there’s the added benefit of being able to spot my cat at night with a low level flashlight.

Reduces Bird Carnage And Makes Your Cat Look Like A Thespian
One of our cats is an excellent murderer. This collar is not perfect, but it cuts the body count by a solid third. It also provides a great ice-breaker for those neighbors you’ve never spoken with; who will assume you’ve done this because you think it’s stylish.

Yet another Crap amazon product! Check out my cat w a BIRD IN HIS MOUTH & the bird safe collar ON!
I am beginning to really hate Amazon. There is NO QUALITY CONTROL. and it appears any yahoo can schelp their garbage here. Case in point this STuPID "birdBeSafe" collar. Not only does my cat look like a clown but a MURDEROUS BIRD KILLING CLOWN. For any cat with an average or above IQ this is nothing to them, if your cat is maybe special and really old and can barely move perhaps you could consider it. BUT NOT FOR NORMAL CATS- IT DOESNT WORK- and frankly read some of the 5 star reviews- they even say their cats still killed with it ON!! Not to mention all this is, is a cheap piece of fabric sewn into sort of a tube that you put the actual cat collar inside. LOLOL. MY CAT COULD HAVE SEWN A BETTER PRODUCT. WHAT A RIP OFF AND ANOTHER DEAD BIRD- BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS- BIRDBESAFE COMPANY!

The Birds are Safe Again!
The Birdbesafe collar has been a true lifesaver. My Huckleberry is a solid black male cat whom I would classify as a skilled hunter. He enjoys laying under the bird feeders, in the tall grass, or under the bushes in order to stalk his prey. He was a feral kitten who had no choice but to suffer through my nurturing after his mother was run over. He is wild at heart, and his hunting habits have only waned over time, not disappeared. Keeping him inside at all times is just not an option for Huck, as he prefers to be outside during the day and inside at night. Before this collar, I tried putting extra bells on his collar, but he moves so smoothly as to prevent them from jingling. The Birdbesafe collar has not only prevented him from stalking birds, but I think it has also lessened his desire to do so. He doesn’t mind the collar, but he knows he isn’t as “stealth” with it on. It slips right over his regular collar, so I was able to leave his two bells on it. I do take it off at night, but he has adjusted to me putting it on him before he goes outside. I really do appreciate the collar allowing Huck, myself, and the birds to all peacefully co-exist.

Crazy Clown Killer
Kitty has had it on for a week, and I'm finding just as many decapitated birds and gutted chipmunks on my stoop. I know it's that time of year where the critters are on the ground more, but MY GOD must this cat massacre them all? I was hopeful for this product. Now she just looks like a clown. A murderous clown.
