Excellent build, design, sound, and reception!
The media could not be loaded. The Sangean 45th Anniversary Special Edition WR-16SE is definitely special in many ways. Not only does it provide crystal-clear reception of local channels, but with exterior FM and/or AM loop antennas, you will have a far-reaching collection of broadcasts at your fingertips. This radio combines the look and feel of yesterday with the state-of-the-art performance of today. The analog tuning style gives a nostalgic feel, all the while digitally locking in frequencies, eliminating station drift. It is also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and an aux-in, so you can easily play podcasts and internet radio stations from any device with a headphone jack or Bluetooth capabilities. Other features include a USB charging port, record-out jack, and headphone jack for a discreet listening experience.I would liken the design to a late 1970s/early 1980s luxury tabletop style. Well-made and durable, the wood cabinet, rose gold face, and well-lit dial are pleasing complements to each other and their surroundings. The sound from this radio is unbelievable for its size! It utilizes a quality speaker, bass port, and special audio-shaping style to produce clear highs and rich bass, eliminating the need for tone controls.I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend Sangean radios over any other brand sold today. If you are in the market for a compact, yet solid tabletop radio packed with features from a company that has been engineering and manufacturing radios for over 50 years, then the WR-16SE is made for you.

Great Radio
I had one of these for many years, love it. When I needed a radio for another room, searched and was pleased they still make them!

The FM radio works in Denver. Radio feels solid/heavy. Operation seems like good quality.

Fullbodied sound, nice retro look, controls on the cheap side
I purchased the Sangean radio to listen to AM/FM/Bluetooth in my office while I work. I like the retro style and the look of the wood finish of the radio. It's like having a mini 70's/80's stereo on my shelf. The radio sounds good and has the clean retro-style I like. By no means is it audiophile quality, but that wasn't why I purchased it. Don't get me wrong the Sangean is no slouch, the sound is rich and enjoyable and has decent bass and range. For a radio of this size, the sound is surprising.I like the retro dial, and there is an LED on the tuning dial that indicates when a station is tuned in. I connected the FM antenna and let it dangle behind the radio. The radio pulls-in stations well, but I do get some drift that seems to be caused by me being close to the radio. It can be a bit of a game of tuning and the station shifting as I move away from the radio. Perhaps this would be corrected if a proper ground were connected. It's a nit, but not a huge issue. The tuning knob is plastic and feels pretty cheap. There is a good deal of friction while tuning the radio. Would have been nice if the tuning knob moved more freely (Like the 70's gyro knobs). Despite the friction while tuning, I don't see any backlash when I let go of the knob. The volume moves a little more freely. The dial is backlit and the green indicators are attractive.I have this radio and a Tivoli Model One. The Tivoli is literally sitting on top of the Sangean and match perfectly. I like the styling of both, and they each perform a task in my office. The bass on the Sangean is more full-bodied, but the Tivoli has more punch and can be run at higher volumes. The tuning dials are a personal preference, but the Tivoli feels more precision and "Engineered" than the Sangean. Because the Sangean sounds a little more full-bodied, I use it for FM and Bluetooth. The Tivoli is used for AM. This combination works great because neither radio has presets. That allows me to tune my favorite AM and FM station on the respective radio for easy access. If I had one radio, I'd probably choose the Sangean because the sound range is wider and richer. In my opinion, the Tivoli has a nicer retro/future vibe.
