I was unsure about this lamp as the detailing on the monkey doesn't look that great but after modifying it slightly I'm very happy with it. The gold monkey was a bit shiny for my taste so I bronzed it to make it stand out more. I think the effect works well. I also have a wall mounted monkey to match which is the step up brand from this one as the sculpture is better quality than the minisun version. I think the standard lamp is worth the money though with the large good quality shade and bulb included. If anyone is interested in how to create the bronze effect, it's relatively simple. I masked around the lamp srem where the monkey joins it. I painted the whole monkey with black oil paint making sure to get paint in all the details then dabbed the paint off from the raised details. It needs gloves as oil paint can be messy and takes a couple of days to dry. I did the same with the wall mounted monkey. With a little care I think the effect works well and adds an extra element to what us great fun quality lamp.

I have seen other versions of this lamp at double the price, love it , very well made.
