A Little Book of Sloth Hardcover – Picture Book, March 5, 2013

Although this is primarily a book for children, any sloth lover will want it in his/her library. It's a beautiful hard-cover with a lot of adorable color photos of both three- and two-toed sloths. And although its main purpose is to give the reader lots of cuteness to enjoy, it also provides some important information on sloth behavior and biology, and the work the Costa Rica sanctuary does to care for these wonderful creatures. It also makes very clear that sloths belong in the wild, not in someone's home as a pet -- a point that can never be stated often or strongly enough. At the end you'll find the websites for the sanctuary and for the "Sloth Appreciation Society," where one can view videos of the "stars" of this book. So if there's a sloth lover in your family -- child OR adult -- they'll love you for buying this book for them. Or buy it for yourself; you won't be disappointed.

This book is loaded with great photos and information just right for younger folks. We know kids love bathroom humor and this book has a few pages devoted to sloth toilet habits. The photos of baby sloths are the biggest draw as very few people can resist a baby animal. I bought this for one of my grandchildren who is an animal lover. I may have to get another copy for my library! It is just too cute to not have a copy here at home. By the way, I could be a bit partial as this book uses photos of the babies at the sloth sanctuary on the east side of Costa Rica. My visit there was the highlight of the trip. The people who work there are devoted to the sloths.

I really enjoy this book from start to finish you can tell the author enjoying creating and writing this book it's very insightful read about Lucy introduces the readers to quite of few Sloths I learn many facts I didn't know about sloths I'd definitely recommend to sloth lovers this book is very delightful read.

My four year old granddaughter delights in this book of sloth babies. She received the book along with Siggy the three toed baby sloth (in his own basket) and I say he because he has been named Jack. She likes to go page to page and talk/tell others about the baby sloths.I think this books will become a sentimental keeper for her.

You cannot say, "no" to that sloth's cute face...This book is aimed at children, but as a full grown adult and sloth-aholic, I find the pictures and the story of the Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica charming and irresistibly cute! The pictures are so cute and high quality. It's a joy just looking at the book jacket and inside it's even better!This is a quality book about sloths. Do not miss it!To keep the sloth party going, I would also recommend  Hanging With The Sloth  as a cute informational DVD about sloths.

Considering all the love that sloths have been getting lately, it's no surprise that this book is a hit. It's full of cute pictures that make you go "aweeee" and I keep it on my desk for whenever I need an adorable pick-me-up.I found that it actually had a surprising bit of information in it too, and I could see this being a great gift for kids (though I'm a 20 year old college student...). I had a fun time going through it and all my friends thought it was cute too.

In the zoo, we don't see too much of the sloth since they just kind of hang around. This book really introduces what I consider to be the most intelligent sloth, the very sedentary sloth. My grand kids are intrigued. The pictures are lovely. The author is able to make cogent comments on the role that they play in the ecosystem. For the potty minded toddler, bathroom habits are tactfully explained. No spoiler here, you have to read the book to find out.

My grandkids are considerably past picture books but the content was so interesting that we ALL love it! Very entertaining way to learn lots about sloths. (Fascinating creatures!) I got them a stuffed animal sloth to go with the book. That turned out great!!

I bought this as a gift for a friend, and had a flick through it before passing it on. The photos of the sloths are adorable, and this is a must-have for sloth-lovers at any age! The writing is easy to read and understand for young children, but teenagers and adults will also appreciate the cute story and lovely photos, especially those of the baby sloths!

My girlfriend loves sloths. I bought her this book as a present and she loves it! It's got lovely photos in it and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves sloths. My girlfriend now dreams of going to Costa Rica to visit the Sloth Sanctuary where apparently you can cuddle the sloths...Edit - we did make it to Costa Rica and to the Sloth Sanctuary! We loved the trip!

Got this for my daughter who adores these creatures; its the only book on sloths i could actually find anywhere on the intret. Its a lovely glossy hardback book and i know she will love it!!

The book was full of lovely photos with anecdotal writing about each sloth. Made a very lovely present for a sloth fan!

For anyone with a passing interests in sloths this really is a lovely wee book!Not the definitive reference tome on the critters but an easy read and some lovely pictures.
