ArmourStar Chili With Beans, 14 oz

My wife and I have been married 54 years. When we were newlyweds in college, living in an "economy" 2nd floor apartment, Armour Chile with Beans over rice, was one of our favorite meals. We still love it. Today's version seems to us to have less fat and more lean meat and a great taste that we love it.

Local stores stopped carrying this delicious chili for some reason. Very happy to find a good price with fast shipping option. Not spicy at all, so I always add some cayenne pepper. 10/10

This project is always consistent. If you like it a little wetter you have to add liquid. A good tasting chili and a good value.

Good soup

Very good chili, unfortunately can't buy in stores anymore so ordering online is only way to get it. Problem with that is the care or lack thereof in packaging for shipping. First order the cans were coated in lotion, even though they were only item ordered so it must have occurred in warehouse. No problem, I washed the cans. Second order was wonderful, had a bag around each can, so obviously they realized there was a warehouse issue. Third order 5 out of 6 cans were severely dented, having been put in too large of box. I like to buy to store for longer term, so very upset I have to eat quickly and give to family since a dented can will not store in pantry. So, excellent product but poor handling by Amazon.

Armour Star doesn't have any distribution where I live, but I read about it on a canned chili review that led me to Amazon. Unlike all of the brands I can get at local grocery stores, which are more soup-like, this stuff is really packed full of meat and beans. The spices are really well balanced too, but still neutral - like any canned chili, I see this as a base to which I add cheese, hot sauce, and maybe sour cream, customizing it to my tastes. I would rate Armour Star about even with Dennison's chunky chili, with maybe a bit more flavor. Fortunately Amazon also carries Dennison's because I can't get that locally either. Both are great starting points for a quick chili meal.

I have ordered this chili several times. It’s better than most canned generic chili. I love buying it because it is a great quick and easy meal for a cold night. It’s very hearty and filling. I usually put the leftovers in the fridge and serve with bread or dipping crackers. Great meal or snack.
