Q: Is this cushion sprayed with any chemicals? Someone mentioned it needs to be aired out?

Mine did NOT need airing. Never detected a chemical odor. Still love it

Q: Is this cushion noisy if you move your hips while seated? Does the media settle over time? Could you sit on this comfortably through a 2hr movie?

All buckwheat zafus make a little sound if you shift your hips--it has never been a problem for me -- in week-long silent meditation retreats. The hulls mash down eventually, settle slightly. This version has a zipper opening to refill or plump up as needed. As for the movie, it would depend on how you arrange your legs. Personally, I cannot do 2 hours in the lotus position. But if you can ordinarily sit 2 hours in the position you use, then yes, certainly this zafu would be fine for that.
