I purchased the Carlson 500 mg DHA supplement on the recommendation of Avidog. DHA is essential for the optimal development of puppies in utero — it supports brain, vision, and overall health. Immune system support: Adequate Omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA, are vital for maintaining a strong immune system in both the mother and developing puppies. All the reputable sources I reviewed recommended 25–40 mg of DHA per kg of body weight daily for pregnant and lactating female dogs. For my Border Collie, this works out to a couple of gelcaps per day. They’re easy to administer — I simply drop them into her bowl with each meal, and she eats them without hesitation. The gelcaps are on the larger side, so for my smaller dogs I just snip off the tip with scissors and squeeze the contents into their food — simple and mess-free. Overall, this is a high-quality, reliable supplement that meets veterinary guidelines and is easy to use across different-sized dogs. Have purchased before due to the quality

We have taken these capsules for years as supplements (to help with cholesterol especially). We were running out and had to order a bottle before our subscription order would arrive. They were shipped very quickly by this vendor.

As others have said, this did arrive as one big clump. There was no rancid odor or any odor at all for that matter. They may have been too warm for only a small amount of time. This review is advice on how to take the pills apart so that they are usable, not on how the product actually works as I haven't used it long enough to know. I will say that I do not get fishy burps with this although I can detect a very very mild fish flavor for a short time after taking it. To disassemble your clump shake the pill bottle until you hear some rattle around. Pour them out and put the bottle in the freezer for 20 minutes or so. Not too long as it will make them too brittle. Shake them some more and you should have some more come loose. Remove the clump. I needed to cut my bottle open to do as it wouldn't fit through the mouth. From here, you can gently manipulate the clump to get the rest apart. If any break, you will have to discard the ones that get oil on them. That said, I trust this brand's quality and will probably only order them in the winter from now on in the hopes they don't get too warm and clump together.
