![The Mule [DVD] [2019]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41Js9i99TYL.jpg)

Clint Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he's just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well-so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn't the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl's past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it's uncertain if he'll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel's enforcers, catch up to him. DVD ordered and received. The disclaimer (NOT work on a regular USA region A/1 player.) was not substantially displayed when the DVD was ordered. Therefore I received a DVD that will not work on a USA player. Why are they even shipped if the buyer is in the USA (Not in Japan or another country)?

Yet another GREAT film from Mr Eastwood and can not praise this move enough and a MUST purchase on Blu-ray as it is well worth the few extra pennies, plus the good thing about the movie is he is playing someone of his own age and that gives it extra sparkle in my books. There is NOT tons of extras on the movie but it still worth a watch and is certainly entertaining for any Clint fan. Yes, I would put this movie HIGH up on my best views over the years and if you love CE you will certainly wish to add this into your collection and will not be disappointed at all with your purchase. It is also based on a true story which adds some weight behind it and it is well played out and the supporting cast also shine in this film. I have never thought CE was a great actor as he just plays himself in ALL the movies that I have watched him in but having said that he is brilliant at what he does and is also an excellent director as he has proven that with the many movies he has done previously over the years. So for me this is 5/5 and worth £7.99 or less second hand as of writing this review- I do not buy many movies but this one just pulled on my heart strings and will treasure it along with all my other hand picked Clint movies on my shelf.

Clint Eastwood plays a charming 90 year old man who's down on his uppers and rather innocently takes on the role of drug mule without, at first, realising what he's doing. His family have largely fallen out with him because of his past behaviour and he was more passionately devoted to the Lilies he raised than to his wife and children. In the past he constantly let them down and even missed his daughter's wedding to attend an award ceremony for Lily growers. He's charming and warm - to everyone except his actual family - and eventually ends up living in a caravan on his Lily farm until that finally goes bust because of his fecklessness. Creeping back to his family, in the guise of being sorry for his past indifference, they see right through him, knowing that he's only looking for somewhere to stay, and wash their hands of him. Desperate, he turns to one of his former farm workers, who tell him he can earn good money by moving goods across the country, no questions asked. Thus starts his career as an (at first) unsuspecting drugs mule. He's instructed to drive into a lockup, his utility is loaded with the goods, which he's told not to look at, then he drives across the country to a car park where he's told to walk away from the car and only return to it when told. When he returns to the vehicle, he discovers a large amount of money has been left in his glove compartment. He does this over and over again, taking more and more valuable consignments of drugs across America and getting increasingly larger amounts of money left in his glove-box until finally he's caught, but not before enjoying himself with his newly-gotten gains and getting into some police-related scrapes along the way. The initial hostility and threats he encounters from the drugs gang, he innocently takes in his stride until he actually begins to build up some camaraderie with his 'employers' but extreme violence is always simmering close to the surface and he seems naively innocent of the danger he's really in. His main problem is getting to grips with the complicated mobile phones he expected to use and discard after every 'run'. As a 90 year old man, this lack of technological awareness gets him into some awkward situations with him impatient, much younger 'colleagues'. I won't give away the exciting ending to the film but suffice to say, he lives through it and ends up tending flowers again, albeit in a not altogether unexpected location.
