A Wander Through the Village: The Greek Village Handbook / The Eastern Fly and Other Stories Paperback – 30 April 2016

Having read all 17 of Sara's books, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this. I bought it the day it became available and read it within 48 hrs!This is a fantastic addition to my Greek Village Library. This little gem has it all. Every character from the series are listed and crossed referenced with the books they have appeared in, there are some lovely pics including a map of the village and of Orino island, a great section showing a Greek glossary of words and their English meaning and best of all, lots of short stories introducing us to new characters and letting us catch up with our favourites.An absolute gem of a book. Thank you Sara for a perfect read, cannot wait for the next one 😊

Full of lovely reminders of past books, a "how did I live without this" list of all the characters and which books they are in, gorgeous photos that give you a real sense of how Sara envisions her village (follow her on Facebook for more of same) But the real bonus is the funny, touching short stories. Like several other reviewers, I keep coming back to this book, dipping in and out when I want a small GV fix. Love it.

A companion that would work better as a BOOK for me rather than KINDLE version. Made me realise have forgotten some of the characters in the earlier tales so will reread! Many printing errors in some chapters but is this something to do with the e book processing? Doesn't affect any meaning of content just annoys me!!!

This is a wonderful read, in particular I loved hearing the inspiration behind many of Sara's books. It's a great companion to the Greek Village series, with a list of characters and the books they appear in, and I love the village map! The short stories are a delight, and I loved catching up with some of my favourite characters from previous novels. If you have read and enjoyed any of the Greek Village series this book is a must buy.

The content is exactly what I wanted: brief summary of the novels, characters and relationships, some Greek phrases and additional short stories. Great! But I'm afraid I found the quality leaving a lot to be desired. Pages are thin, almost like they're going to rip as you turn them, the maps basic and why are the pictures not in colour? I downloaded this on kindled unlimited for free to check it out and the colour photos were wonderful. They should be in colour in the book to give a proper taste of Greece.

A detailed list of all the characters from the Greek Village books, plus a map of the village & short stories about the villagers. It's just a perfect book for anyone who has already read the books, fallen in love with the village & it's inhabitants. Those just starting out with Sara's books will find it informative & fun (beware though, there are a few spoilers - not that they detract from the individual books).

I was a bit reluctant to read this book. Even though I've read all of the Greek village series and loved them. I don't know why. Anyway I gave in and bought it on kindle. It was actually fun to have a quick revisit of each book. To know why the author decided to write the book. Where the idea came from etc. I do like the chance to have a bot of hands on communication from the author,I loved the short stories best. A few questions answered. Finding out how some of the villagers are getting on. Filling in a few more gaps. Thoroughly enjoyed them. They could almost have been expanded into new books. I'm becoming a bit of a village addict.

This was interesting because it isn't always easy to remember who is who.I must admit I have become addicted to the stories.

I am just in love with this author. "A Wander Through the Village" is a must-read for all devoted Greek Village Series fans. And if you aren't a GV series reader yet, I almost envy you since you have all of these delicious books yet to discover. I actually reread her entire series before reading this book. (I never reread books...let alone an entire series!) But rereading them was such a joy because over the years and throughout all the books I have come to love all of the characters so much. I picked up so many more insights the second time around since the characters had become friends to me. This latest book is like dessert for GV fans. So much more we learn about the people we love. Sara Alexi's characters are beautiful, flawed and endlessly fascinating. The way their lives are intricately intertwined gives such a warm sense of community. The writing is beautiful, the insights into humanity startlingly real and the need to move to Greece, intensely urgent.

Having read all of the books in Sara's Greek Village Series, it was helpful to recall the who's who of the nay stories and lovely to catch up on their latest news.

I have read all of Sara Alexi's books and when I do I can't put it down till I finish it. This one is a recap of them all and is like an encyclopedia of her entire series starting with how she came to write the first one and then all of them. I now have this book to go to when one of these delightful characters shows up in another book to refresh my memory. I read this one slowly and savored every word. That is why it has taken me so long to review it. It was so wonderful as I read a chapter a day because I was able to go to the Greek Village every day and not have to wait for the next book. Also what this book has done for me is made me interested in wanting to read them all again. I believe I will do just that. Can't get enough of the Greek Village by Sara Alexi.
