Great smell and hold. You will not be disappointed in the hold. It will last all day and then some. You will need a strong soap to wash it off when you shower.

It's the best brilliantine I have ever tried... it's not greasy and the smell is very pleasant. I've been using it for the last 6 years.

In my line of work, I need to look and dress like a person from the 1920s. I wear solidified brilliantine in my hair every day, just as they would have back then. (Sorry, gels don't cut it, kids.) I have some vintage Yardley's brilliantine that works great. The new stuff smells different and does not hold as well. So, I needed to look to another source, which is why I tried this product. I'm glad I did. You always want to rub the stuff into your hands first to warm it up, so it becomes pliable and moves through your hair evenly. It's a lot stiffer than Yardley's, for sure, and it's harder to work into your hair. But once it's in there, it holds really well. Think of it like a Vaseline that smells a bit like lavender. The smell is less refined than Yardley's, but still palatable and quite nice. The price is excellent and it definitely works. A jar of this stuff will last you a long time, as you don't need to use it every day -- just rinse your hair out when you shower, and wash every other day, or every three days. The hot water will not take the brilliantine out, believe me! To get it out, simply shampoo, let the soap sit in about 5 minutes, then repeat.
