Q: Is there a substantial lip around the edges for spills?

Yes, there is enough substantial lip around the edges to hold any spills. I was skeptical about it before buying but now that I have it on I really lovely, I got the matching floor mat set. Worth every penny!

Q: Is this designed to be lifted easily for purposes of opening the back trunk storage area?

Yes. It has that fold in the middle that allows you to lift the cover of the lower trunk. Still somewhat awkward but it works for me.

Q: Is this for the rear trunk or the front Tring (aka Frunk) or both?

This is only for the frunk. The quality is great. There is another one available for the trunk.
