Love this thing, so easy to use. Big tube, careful not to suck your fish up

Lasted 1 year before breaking
I bought it just over 1 year ago and it worked really well, and then all of a sudden it started leaking out from the trigger. Now it will only work if it is completely submerged. EDIT: I decided to take the handle apart and see if I could fix it and it was actually very easy. I took out the screws, pulled it apart and found that the hoses had come loose. I tightened everything up, put it back together and it seems to be working fine now.

Easy to use and effective
I bought this for daily waste removal from the bottom of an aquatic turtle tank, and it works really well for that purpose. Our tank is too big to use this for full water exchanges in a timely manner (we use an electric submersible pump for that), but this is perfect for quickly removing solid waste and a little dirty water to a waste bucket.I first tried a manual syphon (from another brand) and it worked well to remove waste, but the bulb pump took a lot of effort to start. I then tried an electric vacuum (from the same brand as this) that filters and returns the water to the tank, and it was less trouble to start but the filtration wasn't great. This was a good middle ground. It takes a few trigger pulls to start the suction since the tank is fairly deep, but it's much easier than the bulb and doesn't require electricity, and it extracts waste cleanly. The clip that attaches to the waste bucket isn't wonderful and occasionally pops free, so I have to keep an eye on that, but otherwise, this has been one of the handier cleaning tools I've bought for tank maintenance.

Suction gun doesn't work after 1 use
I've purchased two of these in total, about a month apart. The first one worked great the first time I used it. The second one worked great the first time I used it as well. Today I tried to use the newest one (the second one) again, because it's a new tank and I'm doing multiple water changes as my fish are new too and are getting quarantine meds. But it won't work. It just doesn't suck up water. The trigger gun suction is the whole beauty of this item and it doesn't work after just one use. I'm returning it. But I still need to do a water change so I went and grabbed the first one (the older one) and tried to use that one, and same exact deal. Zero suction. That trigger gun just has no ooomph now. You can feel the difference when you're pulling the trigger. It's crazy that it just stopped working after one time for both of them! They could not have worked more perfectly the first time I used each of them.So to recap, I have two of these that only worked one time each. One is outside the 30-day return period by about 8 days and one is inside of it and is being returned. I will contact Hygger about the one that's outside of the return period. It's too expensive of an item for a one-time use only.I have no idea how I just randomly happened to get two bad ones or if people are just not updating their original reviews, but buyer beware. They don't last like they should. Hygger is a good name, or at least I thought it was supposed to be good, but this is not a quality product like I would have expected from them.

Works great at first but doesn’t last.
Almost perfect but would be better with a gravel guard closer to the tip. Works well for a while but Breaks very easily after a couple months of use.

suitable for bigger tank
I bought this one cos I am BAD at dimensions, the product works very well itself, but if you are like me have a 6 gal tank or less than 10 gal tank, specially if your tank is not wide open on the top, you might wanna look for a smaller one, the suction power is awesome, I could easily get all the wast off, but the problem is it is rather too big for my 6 gal tank, when water start flowing I have top 3 min to finish cleaning otherwise my tank would be dry, and I end up changing to much of the water out. Which as you know is not good for the beneficial bacteria in the tank. This is a product I will keep for my bigger tank in the future, but PLEASE double check your tank size and tool size before you purchase.

stick with the manual kind
i have a 55gal aquarium that needs to have the gravel vacuumed out and the water changed periodically. i have one of the traditional suction cleaners that you have to get the flow going manually and i got tired of that, so i looked to see if there's anything else out there.after trying this one, i'll be going back to my manual cleaner.this one has a "trigger" type button on it that you pump to get the water flow going, which is a big strain on your forearms but it works well enough. i noticed if you hold the entire thing under the water, it takes less pumps because the water doesn't have to flow up into it as far, but it's still quite a workout on your arm.my biggest problem is that the gravel gets sucked up and stuck in the tube, which is not a problem with the manual one i have. the gravel in that one will get picked up and float a little, but fall back down almost immediately. even with the attachments on this one, the gravel gets stuck in the tube (and a little even got sucked out) and stops the flow of waste. when that happens, you have to take the tube off and start all over.it did suck a good amount of waste out, but i noticed that it took a lot longer due to the gravel clogging the tube and it didn't do quite as good of a job for the same reason.i'll be going back to the manual cleaner.
