I use these to mount photo and video lights and accessories to the ceiling in my studio. The 3/8 thread fits spigots, studs, and tripod screws perfectly. I used #10 wood screws to mount them to the ceiling.

Worked very well with threaded rod to hang pipe from the ceiling.

I purchased this item and my dad used them to hold up his tiki torches in the backyard around his fire pit. It has worked great so far keeping them in place, he is thinking about purchasing more to use in his workroom during remodeling. I'm not sure why these are so highly reviewed, unless quality control has only recently nose-dived.About 1 in 4 of the pieces in the package I received were unusable. The holes for the mounting screws were misaligned, enough that a screw either could not get though, or if it could, it was so angled that it wouldn't be able to go into the wall or ceiling remotely straight.Most others just had cosmetic issues, with cast iron overflowing the moldings so they were misshapen, or piled up on top of the size markings and obscuring them completely.These are priced significantly lower than other sources I've found, so if appearances are irrelevant and you just need them to be functional, figure that about 1 in 4 will just have to be discarded and thus the true price per piece will be higher than listed - but still a bit more than alternatives.
