Liliana Cruz Embroidered Mexican Peasant Mini Dress

I just ordered six of these dresses and received them today. I LOVE them! They are exactly what I expected. I am 5'2" and curvy and pear-shaped...I ordered a Medium, and I love the way it fits. I am short, so the length is not a problem. It does say "mini" in the description, after all. On me, it hits a couple inches above the knee. I'm almost 50 years old, so I think the length is perfect. I purchased these, because I thought they looked comfortable and would work well on summer vacations all over the country. I am looking forward to wearing them in Pittsburgh, Vermont, Upstate NY, California, and at the gulf coast beaches. they should be perfect during the day everywhere I go!

For reference, I am 5'6" and wear a size 12 US, 38DD/DDD bra.Because of all the reviews saying how small the dress ran, the size chart, and the seller's comment about how the XXL ran small, I ordered the XXL hoping it would fit over my chest (I knew the fabric would not stretch). I usually wear an XL top in non-stretchy fabrics, so I figured one size up would be ideal if it ran small.In truth, the XXL was huge on me! There was at least a foot too much fabric, even around my chest. I ended up paying more for the alterations than I did for the dress itself. This was my choice tho, as I wanted the dress for an anniversary weekend and didn't have time to return it and get a new smaller size.The alterations did make the dress fit much better but it's a lot shorter now. This leads me to believe that if I'd gotten the XL it would be about this length. The fitted dress falls several inches above my knee and rides up a lot when I sit down. I have short legs, too, so long legged girls may find it too short. I can wear it with flat sandals, but with wedges it looks like I forgot my pants!The embroidery is pretty, but I will be very careful when washing so it doesn't fall apart. The fabric is thin and reminds me of the fabric they make scrubs out of. Fine for the navy dress I got, but with the lighter colors I'd beware. I still wear a slip under it to be safe.In hindsight I don't know that I would order this again, but it's cute and colorful. However, now that I've spent so much money on the dang thing I'll be wearing it all summer just to make myself feel I got my money's worth. lol

I ordered a large since I am 5 '9 and have curvy hips. I am so glad i ordered a size up! It fits perfect and is very cute but is definitely see through!

I really like this Mexican dress/shirt. It reminds me of the long embroidered dress my parents brought back from Mexico 40-something years ago. It is well made, and I’ve washed it a couple of times on the gentle cycle and dried it on low for 10 minutes before hanging it to dry the rest of the way. I did wash it inside-out and in a lingerie bag to be extra careful. It’s so pretty (and not exactly cheap) that I wanted to be really careful before I could figure out just how “sturdy” it is. I got a big size to fit over my big, middle-aged gut, so the length hits mid-thigh. If I were young and skinny, it would be a cute little dress, but I’m not, so I wear it as a tunic-shirt with capri leggings.

Beautiful dress. I wore to a day of the dead party and received a ton of compliments. It is true to size (true plus size), maybe even a bit bigger. I could have ordered a size down.

Great little dress. It does run large. I am an 18-20 and ordered a 3X. I could have gone with an XL. I'm going to shrink it down and it will be perfect. Wonderful for my Jamaican vacation.

I wear a 2x from Talbot's, Old Navy,Liz Claiborne and many other vendors. This was way tight. I would pay to return it if I knew where.I am now having trouble returning the item because I do not own a printer and cannot return it to an Amazon center in my area.This is NOT the first time this has happened. Going to be hesitant to order apparel from Amazon in the future due to the inconvenience of returning.

For average to tall people, this beautiful, eye-popping garment works well as a long tunic over a pencil skirt. The photo shows size Large on a 5'6" 160 lb person. The upper back is poofy due to back pleats (per the traditional styling of the garment), but it curves inwards towards the bottom (again typical traditional cut), so it is best to get to get the size that you really are and later sew down the upper pleats to control the poof. Otherwise if you size down instead, you risk the rear of the garment pooching in too high and too tight at the hemline.
