Dear Cameron, Hi. Its ok to cook the meat if you kitty does not prefer raw BUT IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO COOK THE PREMIX. Cook the meat and then add the premix, egg (optional) and water. There are many during the transitional phase of going to raw will start with cooking the f meat and then cook it less and less each time so the kitty gradually transitions to raw. And some will always cook the meat if the kitty has a compromised immune system or severe health issue. *****IMPORTANT - Do NOT cook the premix. The meat needs to be weighed. For 2 oz of meat use 1&1/2 tsp premix. For 4 oz of meat use 3 tsp of premix. For 8 oz of meat use 6 tsp of premix. For 16 oz (1lb) of meat use 12 tsp (1/4 cup) of premix. If you don't have a kitchen scale you can buy an inexpensive one for around $15
