I’ve never read the Bible before so I wanted a chronological Bible so I could see how all of the pieces fit properly together and in what order. Otherwise it is so confusing because all of the books hit on very similar subjects and when you have to bounce all over the place to try to make sense of them all, it gets quite frustrating. Well, for me it did. I would simply just give up, and do something else instead. I bought the NLT version and I’m so glad that I did. It helps everything make a whole lot more sense having all the different books combined in one ‘as it happened’ order. It doesn’t go into a huge lot of detail, so whenever I need more specifics or detail, I read my other bible. If you are just learning, as I am, I would highly suggest this Bible. It is well written with a good sized font and is very easy to read and understand. I highly recommend this Bible.

Having been a christian for over 24 years, I have made several attempts to read the bible through in a year or even to read it through all together. However sadly this has never been possible as most times just like setting new years resolutions it goes on the pile heap of failed resolutions. Though with all good intentions to keep them. Well we are already in March and I have kept at reading the bible through in a year. The language is easy to read and understand, it has been broken up into daily readings from one book, not one old testament, one psalm, and one from the new testament. It is simply book by book, however occasionally it will give a little section to read from another book as it was written at the same time. I have already finished books like Job and Leviticus. I did not even know when I finished Levitcus, I found myself in Numbers as it seemed like one continuous story. The best thing about the bible is I am discovering things in the scriptures I never knew existed until now. I would say the reason is I have always read the books I enjoy, like Genesis,Pslams, Proverbs, the new testament etc. This Bible comes highly recommended. At the end of the year I will buy the "The One year Bible NLT as I know it will be just as easy to follow. If there were more stars I would have given it.

Great Bible, I've had this Bible for a while and it's really good because you have your readings organized by day, and in chronological order, so it's not the usual canon order. I think it's a great version to give out as a gift, because it is easier for people to start to read the Bible. I just gave one of these to my brother and he already started to read it. The paper is white, good quality, the letter size is very good and easy to read. Both the hardcover and the softcover are very good. I highly recommend this version, especially with the NLT translation, I think it is especially useful for new believers, because the language is clear and easy to understand. Once the believer grows in the faith, and studies the Bible more deeply, he may eventually get a NKJV or a KJV, and even study the Hebrew and Greek words.

I wanted to do something new for my daily devotional reading, and when I saw this item I knew this was exactly what I wanted. A lot of people are confused by the Bible because it is not a linear narrative. The stories in the different books double back quite a bit in the Old Testament, and the New Testament, to a slightly lesser extent is the same. By arranging the texts chronologically, you are reading the Biblical record in the order that things happened. It helps you to see a narrative that helps you draw more meaning from the Biblical texts. THIS IS NOT A STUDY BIBLE! There are next to no notes, just the translator's notes where applicable. As a thought for thought translation, the NLT is not considered as scholarly as other translations, but the translators manage to honor the message of Scripture while using a more colloquial language than most versions. The reading seems more natural and conversational than it does with some other "more accurate" translations, and there are times when the turn of phrase used in the NLT unlocks meanings that would otherwise be harder to tease out of the text. The softcover binding made it through the year no problem, and was in good enough shape that I was able to pass it along to someone else when I was done with it. All in all, worth every penny!

Great read.. I love how you can read the entire bible in order from beginning to end. The only thing I don’t like is that I think the pages are very thin and you can see the writing through the page behind. Other than that I think it’s a great book.
