BEAUTIFUL PIJAMAS EASY TO USE

The pattern is not size S-M-L. It's more like L-XL-XXL. I love my pajamas larger than my real size, but this is ridiculous! The first pair that I made were way too big. This is the second pair, size small...still too big. So, I ended up cutting the 3rd pair out...minus the 5/8" seam allowance. Hopefully that will give me a truer size.UPDATE: Using the small pattern, minus the 5/8 seam allowance worked perfectly.

Based on the body measurements, I knew this would be a bit large for me as even the small didn’t match up. But the finished shirt is absolutely MASSIVE. I will not even be finishing the shorts because the shirt cut from the small pattern is the same size as my husband’s 2xl shirts. Do not buy this if you expect it to be true to size.

I teach people how to sew and have used this pattern repeatedly. If you are going from ready to wear to a pattern, you have to compare your physical measurements to the back of the pattern in order to choose the correct size. If you simply assume that you wear a medium and ready to wear, I assure you that you will wear a small or possibly even an extra small in a pattern size. What most people don’t understand is that as the public has gotten bigger over the years, clothing manufacturers have simply enlarged the sizing and labeled it the same to give people, the illusion that they are not heavier than they used to be. It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to take actual measurements of the individual before choosing a size. Keep in mind that patterns allow what is called “ease” in order to not have something be skin tight. Also too, if you fall between sizes in your measurements, you don’t use the larger size but you go down one size and you’ll find it that the pattern will fit appropriately. Also, this pattern is sized for woven fabrics, not knits. I have taught sewing to beginners and those with more experience for the past 15 years. I find this pattern very easy to use and appropriately sized when current measurements are taken and the correct size is chosen.

This pattern was exactly what I was looking for. The sizing does run a lot bigger than expected, so I ended up resizing and adding in a tie for the shorts. Some of the instructions are a bit confusing, but nothing YouTube can’t help with. Given how much fabric stores charge for patterns, this is a great deal.
