KOHLER 14 853 55-S KIT, CARBURETOR

This carburetor worked perfectly. I had old gas left in my mower, and it refused to start, even after draining the carb of old gas. Replacement took about 10 minutes from start to finish. Mower started on the first pull once the new carburetor was installed. The unit comes with the carburetor (wrapped in bubble wrap) and 2 gaskets (large and small). The small gasket that I had received looked like it had been folded in half at one point, but it doesn't seem to affect the performance negatively so far. There are no instructions included, but I didn't need them. Taking off the old carb requires removal of the air filter box, fuel line connecting to the carb, two Torx screws, 2 linkages, and the small spring. Once those are removed, the carb slides right off. Assuming you are replacing the carb because of bad gas, make sure to drain the fuel tank completely before all of this. Reverse directions for assembly, fill it up with gas, and you are good to go. Should start on the first pull just like mine.

The right one for my LawnBoy mower.Note that there are a few carburetor models with slightly different auto choke linkage - read the model number stamped into the carburetor cast housing - don't ask how I discovered this.My old would no longer stop fuel flow when the bowl float raised so gas flowed (out the air intake) until the tank went empty between uses. Might add a fuel line filter this time since I'm replacing again after 5 years.

Replaced a Kohler carburetor on a lawn mower and it was perfect replacement. I stayed with the Kohler brand even though there were some cheaper options, but the technical information on them was vague. For the price of the Kohler carb, it was not worth the time and effort to attempt cleaning and repair on the old carb. Very pleased with fit, form, function, price and prompt delivery to my door.

It arrived in perfect condition, an exact duplicate of the original. Easy to install, and the engine started on the first pull, ran perfectly. I highly suggest that you install a fuel shutoff valve and a online fuel filter. Then, after running the machine, turn off the valve and allow the engine to run until it shuts off. Now the carb is empty, and will not be affected by the damned ethanol absorbing H2O.

Perfect my machine was sitting idle for three years when I try the start it won’t even after I clean the carburetor two times, finally I brought this new one and just instal in one time pull it started working. Great product

Simply put, this carb kit is excellent. I accidentally mangled the linkage assembly on my stock carburetor (Toro walk behind mower). This one was easy to install. Best of all, it actually seems to have improved how quickly my mower starts! Usually one pull now, as opposed to the 5-6 that were often necessary with the original carb!

Replacement with this carb ,and now back to 1 pull starts

Great brand new carb, put it on a self propelled toro 22" recycler i found on the side of the road, got a like new mower for 23 bucks, started on the first pull, i was shocked. I think it's cheaper every year to just buy a new carb rather than maintenance on a mower.
