It is a very helpful book for practice and a review about all you know of the English language. Also, it will be nice to understand the American English as well.

I highly recommend this book - really practical, with useful and relevant everyday examples and interesting, relevant exercises for practising grammar and new vocabulary. My husband is a second language learner of English and this is the best book by far that we have found for helping him do self-study and improve his English.

The cartoons and symbols used are reproduced so small that they are of no use whatsoever. The tables are equally useless and the starting point at which we start to learn is ridiculous. One of the earliest lessons is about which syllable to stress in multi- syllable words, so one of the first words a student is expected to learn is "multi-syllable"! I don't recall exactly when I first used that word but it certainly wasn't at nursery school! Ridiculous methodology, poor presentation and generally a waste of space. I assume the good ratings were family and friends!

TRYING to teach English to a friend, I bought this book, only to discover that the whole thing is based on an accompanying recording...WHERE IS THAT RECORDING?....there is no obvious indication or advice. Perhaps it is on a CD? WRONG!!! There is no NO CD!! I find the marketing little short of fraudulent and would appreciate a refund. Phillip Edwards. [email protected]
