Don't buy the cheaper crap.
Does very well with oddball (both computer and TV) resolutions, copies EDID information and duplicates the signal properly. Shows up as a Samsung TV when it's not connected to anything. DIP switches for EDID configuration are very helpful if you have things in your setup that misbehave and has an accessible reset button if you do have problems. Continues showing up with the same EDID even after the display was turned off so extra points for that. Handles turning power on and off too. I have it attached to a 5ft and 25ft HDMI->DVI through a noisy environment and signal is perfect. I bought a cheaper splitter before (one of the $20 ones you see listed here on Amazon) and it didn't do any of it. It showed up as a 1080p TV and it was stuck that way, it didn't support any other resolutions besides the standard 1080/720 ones, didn't copy EDID. There is a 4 and 8-way splitter too in the same line of products. If you need it, I'd highly recommend this brand.

It works
I bought a cheap HDMI splitter for my two TV's in my basement and it did not work at all. This one required a 30 second install and it worked exactly as advertised. Don't buy the cheap stuff. Vanco is excellent. [not a paid reviewer]

doesn't work for my purpose
I am trying to split an HDMI signal three ways. This is one-into-three box. I thought with a powered hub it would provide the signal boost necessary to keep it from cutting out. It does not.

It works most of the time...
This product works for me, but it can take a while to start working sometimes. It also claims that it support HDMI 1.4a, and that's true. But it doesn't always detect the 3D signal from the tv/projector. This can lead to annoying shutting down and restarting the tv/projector. The instructions have a trick to make the process work more often, but it still seems a bit odd. I would say stay away from this product if you want something more simple. The most simple feature of this product that I love is that it can automatically detect which tv, monitor, or projector is turned on and will switch to that output by itself. I like the product, but I still need to get down the steps it wants me to take to watch a 3D movie.

It depends
This product will likely work fine for most. That is of course if you understand properties of HDMI splitters. I am hopeful that the following information will benefit someone. It comes after too much trial and error and tech support. This product is an HDMI splitter which takes one source and splits it into two (or would split it into more signals in the case of other products available). While not related to this product, it is helpful to know the difference between an HDMI splitter, an HDMI switch and an HDMI matrix. 1. As I mentioned above, An HDMI splitter takes one source and splits it to multiple displays. You can watch the same signal on both displays or one at a time. 2. An HDMI switch connects multiple sources to a single display. 3. An HDMI matrix is a hybrid of splitters and switches. An HDMI matrix allows you to use multiple sources and switch between them on one display, just like a switch. It can also display the same signal on two displays at the same time (or 1 at a time), just like a splitter. Additionally, an HDMI matrix also allows you to display one signal on one display, and display another signal from another source onto the other display. The key point that I believe is understated with all these devices is that they work best with displays. If you introduce components with different audio capabilities or with different video capabilities, problems occur. Before I get back to this switch, I will mention one other product that is commonly used with some of these devices. Baluns are HDMI extenders that work by taking an HDMI signal and run it over longer distances over cables like ethernet. A balun has nothing to do with this product but I mention it because splitters are often used with longer runs. This product is unpredictable with baluns and I would not recommend it (even with Vanco's own balun). Back to this device and splitters in general. The problem with splitters is that they only send one type of signal from the source (the "native signal"). If you are going to send the signal to a display that is only capable of 720 and another that is capable of 1080, you get 720 on both. There are products called scalers that are sold separately that can mitigate this problem to some extent. However, the native signal also applies to audio and I believe that fact is not well publicized. If you wanted to send one HDMI out to a receiver that is capable of DTS HD Master audio and another HDMI to a display (that is clearly not capable of 7.1 audio with only two integrated speakers), you will get the least common denominator of the two. The result will be some Dolby PLx2 audio or worse even through the HDMI to the receiver. Currently there are no products to mitigate the native signal audio issue. However, Atlona is said to have a possible solution the middle of 2014 called the M2C that will possibly correct this audio issue and allow an HD audio signal passed to the receiver even if the other end of the splitter does not go to an HD audio-capable device. The bottom line is that this product is probably a good choice if you are running the HDMI to two different DISPLAYS that have the same capability. Problems will likely arise if you send the HDMI signal to two displays of differing video capability or one to a receiver and one to a display (where the audio signal is important). So if the products says "Supports Digital Audio Format, DTS-HD/Dolby-True HD/LPCM7.1/AC3/DTS/DSD", that means both destination devices have to have that capability for it to work.

Best for us.
This was a exact replacement for one that was damaged due to a power spike. Very reliable for our system. The computer feeding this was also damaged. Now have them both on a UPS system. Lesson learned.

Awesome product
I first got a VIMVIP HDMI male to dual female splitter from Nextany. Not even kinda worked. It didn't work at all. Should have read the reviews first I guess. Then after reading the reviews I got the Vanco splitter and it worked great. Couldn't be happier.
