If you enjoy Conquest of Planet Earth, then this expansion will enhance the gameplay for you. More alien races, more resistance, more cards and allies. It definitely freshens the game up a bit.

This game is a great fast paced card game with a war game overtone

Fun game

The campy and not-overly-serious fun of Conquest of Planet Earth gets bigger and better with this expansion.The Apocalypse expansion adds up to two more players, a new objective location called the Tech Center, four new allies, and an entire new deck of Coastal Resistance cards with locations that use them, along with cards for the other decks, and, of course, new alien races. Also included are more cards of good/evil fun for the other decks, as well.The biggest addition in this expansion is probably the large ship counters, (Destroyers, Carriers, and Battleships) that can come from the Coastal Resistance deck. Unlike other Resistance cards, these stick around if you don't defeat them, acting as large Resistance counters, potentially causing havoc among your alien saucer fleets as they barrage your saucers from afar, launch swarms of fighters, or just make conquering locations more difficult. On the upside, if a ship counter is defeated--defeated twice, actually, as the first loss only flips it over to its other side--it acts as a trophy, giving terror points to the alien race who conquered it.In general, if you understand the base game, there isn't really major new rules here that might give you trouble, In five and six player mode, a second objective board is added to the layout, leading to up to seven map boards on the table, so this game can require a fair amount of real estate to get everything spread out. It's worth it, though.While the base game works just fine without this expansion, the new resistance deck and counters, the new Space Stuff and Human Tech cards, the new locations, and--of course--the new alien races, make this well worth picking up. Increasing the player count to six also helps on those game nights when an odd number of people show up unexpectedly.So, grab some saucers, ready your Space Stuff, and prepare yourself for another war against the (not-so-)puny humans. Just be careful of that battleship over there!

Apocalypse is a great expansion. It adds to the game without needlessly adding complexity or bloating the game with features. The new resistance deck adds some fun variety. The new cards in general add to the game (and for the co-op play, just having new event cards is great, as they make "I don't think so" less frequent) while sticking to the game's humour. The new aliens also are a great addition with interesting mechanics.For anyone who enjoys the base game, this is a safe purchase: simply more fun of the type you already are enjoying.
