AccuQuiltGO! Fabric Cutting Dies; 8-1/2 inch; Rag Square

I seriously love this die. I am relatively new to quilting but one thing I knew was cutting would be the DEATH of me. Multiple spine surgeries have really left me really unable to stand bent over cutting and also, my cuts really sucked so it make sewing things together even harder- more sitting, more seam ripping, more frustration. I bought the Go! machine and tried out the die that came with it but I'm not really about the tiny little squares and triangles and I was intrigued by the idea of a rag quilt.Got this die and I am in love. Fast, easy and I have experienced *none* of the complaints I've seen below. I think that the die takes a toll on the mats and perhaps that's why people don't get a very clean cut? I am using a brand new mat with mine. On a few squares there were a few threads to cut but really- it was a very minimal issue (no issue at all, just snip 'em).These perfect squares are really easy to assemble with some batting in the middle- I sewed 2 together just to see how they would look/feel and I'm in love. I was going to make this as a baby blanket but really I think I'm going to make it bigger and keep it for me to snuggle with. This die makes a rag quilt SO fast and easy, you will love getting right to the fun part- the sewing!I didn't see anyone else mention this but for what it's worth, I got 16 squares out of a yard of fabric, so you can use that to plan your fabric needs. Don't forget you sew an 1" seam allowance PLUS the 1/2 inch of fringe so you will have a finished 6.5" square when all is said and done. So make sure you plan your project out right; you won't get 8" squares from this like I thought you would at first.Feel free to ask me a question, I have more pics if you like as well.

This is my second rag quilt die and although it works well, it is really difficult to clean after about 50 or 60 cuts. It appears that the time I saved on using it was then spent on cleaning it so I could again use it. And you can never really get it totally clean so you end up cutting what it misses. Would I buy it again? Yes, but I really wish they would come up with a better solution so that cleaning isn't so difficult.

I had made two rag quilts prior to buying this die and it so I had a good comparison to make between using the die and not.The cutting was great and took a fraction of the time that it took without it. The only problem was that since the squares were already cut prior to sewing them together you had to be very careful not to catch the fringe cuts in the seam. I tried taping them down and that was helpful but not the whole answer.

as with all my dies this a must have so easy to use cuts a few layers at a time a time saver and saves your hands. my friend has the 5x5 one for her mini go she loves it, as she has done 3 quilts in a short time for her grand kids. she also takes the quilts to the laundry mat to wash and dry them to save her washer as they are bigger.

Worked great. Made a baby quilt.

Use it often, just what I expected!

I bought this die to make a full size quilt, I wish I hadn't, it has ruined 2 cutting mats by cutting through them and I found if I try to cut more than 4 layers of fabric it doesn't cut,all the way through the layers if I used less than 4 layers it didn't cut all the way through. the die and the mat needs cleaning out after cut or it doesn't cut all the way through each layer.If you have problems with your hands like me the die is very hard to clean out as you need nimble fingers to get all the bits out.

Accuquilt is the best. As long as you have one of the machines to go with the dies it saves so much time you can enjoy the making the items instead of the cutting out the shapes.

wow wow ive just starting sewing so i tried this die first and made a little dog blanket i am well impressed it cuts like a dream and did not take long to make even with my lack of sewing skills
