Columbia Sportswear Boy's Bahama Long Sleeve Shirt (Children)

I love Columbia's quality and the material this shirt is made from is outstanding. The sizing is confusing, which is how I ended up with a shirt that was too big. Size XL shirt says right on the tag it is big boy's 18-20. I ordered a larger size based on other reviewers but my tall 9 year-old really only needs the medium. I'll be getting that size instead!After a trip to the Columbia Outlet in Houston, Here is what I believe the size chart should read:Small: size 8Medium: size 10/12Large: size 14/16XLarge: size 18/20Update: The Medium shirt (marked as big boy's size 10/12) arrived and it fits my tall, skinny son perfectly. (He wears a size 10 in everything else.) I will say that the shirt seems to have a "slim fit" kind of cut to it that I didn't expect. The sleeves are nice and long and the body is plenty long, giving him room to grow even taller but the body of the shirt skims his chest and torso, as if it was tailored for him. This is unusual because most tops are cut wider and hang from his lean frame. The boxy-looking shirt in the image is quite misleading - anticipate receiving a slim fit shirt with less room in the chest and tummy area but with a long shirt tail and long sleeves with room to grow.Update March 2016: These shirts continue to be excellent quality! I also bought the Large so my son has another one to grow into. (Just in case he hits a growth spurt in the middle of summer, which for us is nearly nine months out of the year!) He is now asking for a white version so he can have a comfortable but nice looking shirt to wear to family events and dinners where he needs to look nice but wants to be comfortable, too. You cannot go wrong with these shirts!

Shirt is great, haven't had son wear it yet as it just fits him and honestly want to get two years of use. My son is 56 pounds and 4 ft tall he is almost 8. He is very slim. The shirt seems shorter then expected and sleeves are just long enough. If I was looking for a perfect fit I could let him wear but by end of summer the shirt will be too short likely and the point of having a long sleeve light weight camp shirt will be pointless. I am returning and going up to a medium not a small. I debated at time of purchase but other reviews swayed me to choose small. I regret getting the small and will be getting a medium even if long it has button sleeves when long or we can cuff and wear short sleeve. Great shirt though for summer heat and keeping bugs off with less chemical.

Great Value on a Family Favorite ShirtI bought three of these shirts in different colors and sizes to take the grandkids kayaking. All of them were excellent quality and appropriately sized. I wouldn't have bought them, however, if they hadn't been on sale for half price.I want to get the kids used to keeping shirts like these ready for outdoor activities because they are easy to put on, protect their skin, and add a little warmth if the temperature drops.All of the adults in my family wear Columbia shirts for sun protections and because of the lightness of the materal, the useful sealed pockets, and the sharpness of the design.

I bought this for my 11-year old son before a 2.5 week trip to India. We wanted to pack light, and yet we needed clothes suitable for daytime temperatures in north India in December (roughly 50-70 deg F) and later in the same trip Kerala in south India (85-90 deg F). This shirt packed easily and looked great. In cool weather he rolled down the sleeves, and in warm weather he rolled them up. My son washed it himself in the sink a few times in the evening, and by morning it had drip-dried and looked good as new. My son loved it and wore this shirt at least 7 days out of 15: it got to the point where we joked it had turned into his official uniform.

This is advertised as being 100% nylon. It is NOT 100% nylon! The mesh in the back is 100% polyester as you find out when the shirt arrives. It's listed as 100% nylon on all the sites (columbia's included) as being 100% nylon, so that is why I got it. The Tamiami shirt, which I was told by a local vendor is basically the same thing, does tell you that the liner is polyester and it's the reason why I did not get that one and was a little skeptical about this shirt not having the same thing - which it does. My son, whom this was for, is allergic to polyester. I had to cover the polyester backing up with a nylon mesh so he could use it as I couldn't find anything else without polyester in it.

Got this s*** for my son. got the pants to. He like the shirt and pants alot. their are light and breath well and they kept him dry in the rain he said(a very small amount of rain. 4 stars because we like them alot but the fabric is pretty weak so he already has some hole in the shirt. hes worn is 3 or 4 times id guess.

Great shirt. We bought it for my son to dress up as Jeremy Wade for career day (biologist and extreme angler). It is well made and fit him perfectly. He has worn it again and again. It is a great fabric for summer in the south and resists water and better yet stains. He ate ribs in it and BBQ sauce just wiped right off. The sleeves also roll down so he can wear it year round. I think I may get him one in as many colors as possible.

my wife bought this because women's shirts are very expensive. She would wear a size 8 in women's and this boy's XL fits her except the sleeves are a bit long. The color (light tan) is good and it looks like it will be a good shirt for hiking.
