"All your brains are belong to us!"
OOF. My first review was rejected, apparently because my last line in the review quoted the MC and teams' official motto. ("Go team...") including the final word. I didn't save the contents of my original review, so let's try this again, and hopefully this time it'll get through. Bother.Anyway...The headline above is one of the many funny quips in the book. And even though there are zombies aplenty in the story, the quip has NOTHING to do with the Zombies. Ha!So our merry little group of murder hobos continues their trek across what was once the USA, encountering (and killing) mutated critters, encountering (and killing) zombies and monsters, and encountering other people -- and sometimes helping out, if the price is right or the group is so inclined. Or killing them if those other people decide to be idiots. :-)Many little spoilers:The title character -- the worm(s) -- are encountered early in this book. The group also encounters an old friend -- acquaintance? okay, friend. The worm quest is resolved, which opens new quest lines. Our group encounters new monsters, new critters, new aliens. Literally in the last case, as in Greys. DNA experiments! The team encounters various people in encampments -- some decent, some idiots, and some in the middle. Alvin survives a nuke. Gothy is becoming more and more succubus-like. (Okay, not literally... at least not in this book.) Nobody is complaining either way. More bombs, more big guns. Gothy gets her airplane, then loses it. Taking the sting off a bit, the team gets a new vehicle. We see Sammi for a bit, and is her demeanor cracking? Yes, I think it is. Mousie and Desiree are as deadly as ever, when they aren't loving their spouses. No new members for Hero's family in this book, but there is one side episode of note. (Yeah, I'm carefully trying to avoid having this review kicked back a SECOND time, sorry.)We close this episode with our happy crew heading east, for new adventures and the chance to collect more XP.

Still great
Like my previous review of the last book in this series, this book is still great. I love the characters and how they are slowly changing, which beats some authors’ unchanging, 2 dimensional types that are cookie cutters. The one gripe that I do have, which is the same as the previous book, which seems to have followed his Alpha series, is that the sex scenes have dramatically decreased, in terms of amount shown to us (as in the entire scene) and the unique variety that this series started with. I’m not sure if this is due to the author wanting to add more progression content, other readers asking him to tone them down or decrease the amount, or some other reason. However, I feel like it has decreased the charm of the past books and the series going forward if this continues. While I understand that this series isn’t an erotica novel, I really felt like the original amount/variety was good in that it showed us readers the ways that Alvin’s group loves each other, changes the pace from just death and destruction, just plain entertaining and enjoyable to read, as well as further increasing the bond the reader has with the main characters.Again, this is my only gripe about this book and the previous one. I have nothing but praises for the rest of the content as well as the series in general.I don’t know if the author will read this review, but keep up the amazing work! Loving it.

Saga continues its murder hobo path
Alvin and his chipmunks....Oh wait, I get a feeling Mousie would be a bit aggressive if I called her that.Anyways, this is book 6 in a series, so by now I expect anyone interested knows our band of murder hobos and their unending quest for another village/settlement to harass and annoy. And this story has that in spades. They leave the dwarven world and gate and head south towards New Mexico and Texas. And its clear that the author is spending a lot of time studying maps because there is a lot of detail as to which highways they are driving on and the names of towns. Empty or undead infested towns, but they do have lots of encounters. There are of course issues. The sex while designed to be exciting mostly bored me. I'm not into the kinks used in the scenes and as I've pointed out in many reviews of "harem" books, most of the sex scenes add nothing to the story. Its there, but that's it. At least Daniel uses it mostly to end chapters so its not too hard to skim. The plot armor also gets a bit thick at times, but Daniel does allow our Hero to make mistakes and have bad things happen. Its a nice departure from the stories where the heroes never get hurt or fail.Overall its a solid addition to the series and this is a series worth reading. I give it 4 stars.

Enjoyable but sets up future adventures
The 6th book in the Apocalypse Gates continues the slice of life adventures and is almost a travelogue as Alvin and the group travel to Roswell and then across the country to Washington DC. They stop in a variety of towns and talk to various leaders. Many who have the same reaction to seeing Queen's elf and a dwarf. It's almost a running joke. But I'll admit it also felt a little repetitive after the 3rd or 4th time it happened. Not to say that is all that happens. There is still some fighting, RPG progression, and a bit of questing. In particular I liked the first quest with the Native Americans. When the characters stood still and had a chance to mix with the communities, was when I liked the story the best. Also, I can't believe Instill have to say this but there is sex in the novel. Not a ton, maybe 5% of the story but it is there. As it has been for most of the series. And it's still very skippable if it's not of interest to you as it isn't to me.Overall, though the story feels like a transition novel. A setup for the next book where something big may happen. A fine read, but not my favorite book in the series.Score: 7.3 out of 10

More fun and games
Continues to do what the previous installments did - which is deliver a mixture of sex, violence, sarcasm and pop-culture references. The use of quests as story guides is a good idea, it allows for the players to progress without getting mired down in a meta-plot. The quests are varied so it's not just a case of 'kill xxxx' for chapter after chapter. While I can see that Heroe's attitude might annoy some readers (he really doesn't give a rats about anything outside his 'family') his history goes some way to explaining it, along with the fact he's in a post-apocalypse world where survival is hard won.The harem element is still strong, but it's not overpowering - book 6 and Gothy's only added two to the harem. The sex is...... well, if you've read the previous volumes you'll know all about it. The BDSM elements may not be to everyone's taste but it's consenting and performed in a safe manner. The one odd thing, from the stats at the back, Kuro (Mousie) has a higher personality than Desiree yet Kuro comes across as the far more reticent of the pair.Oh and Mousie is still best girl !

Continuing story
A great follow on in the series! I will not spoil it but word to the wise, pay attention. There is a moment where it seems to vary from story if you don’t pay attention but it is spelled out.Now if you’ve been reading this series it only gets better and the one liners keep coming. There are many cute remarks that refer to certain companies. Needless to say I was in tears at times. Can not wait till the next book.

Lots of fun
The next instalment in the story, if you liked the previous books no doubt you will enjoy this, lots of good action, nice set pieces but I get the feeling this was more of a set up for later, that said it was very entertaining and I love the main characters

Sex and cooking
It's alright and inline with the series, a group of people have sex and eat meals with breaks in between to be A holes to strangers and fight zombies.
