i watched the anime and even if it was scary with the gore and bloodish scenes
the story is really enjoyable... the fate of a guy and his decision either wrong or right for him could mean the end of humanity or the salavation for the earth. RECOMMENDED 99%

One of beautiful series of Clamp.
When I was child I read a part of this book. And then I never forget about this book. I liked very much Kamui and Kotori. This book is really beautiful, I liked the color pages. They are very gorgeousBut some picture is grotesque (if someone don't like take care), but if clamp's fan may like this series. I'm waiting for other 2 volumes. And, I hope to Clamp to continue and finish this book.

New to this series...
I have been hearing about X since it was in Animerica Extra, though I was only 9 years old, and my mother would not allow me to read it. By the time I went off on my own anime and manga escapades, it had been cancelled, and I saw no point. Now it is 9 years later, I am 21, and since the anime was on sale at Funimation Channel for only $15, I decided I would give it a try. Being that I was in love with the anime, I decided to check out the manga as well. The series is utterly breathtaking. Not that it's surprising, considering CLAMP is the author. This omnibus version is everything I could possibly ask for. You're getting 3 volumes of a manga series for less than $20. When I bought it it was $13. That's more than half the price it would have been to buy 3 separate volumes back in the day when this was first published. Actually, I believe that each individual volume may have been that much! So you're basically getting three volumes for the price of one! Buy one get two free anyone? PLUS there are beautiful color pages. I was worried about the binding because it is 3 volumes combined into one paperback book, but as long as you're just a little bit careful, there shouldn't be much worry. I believe this book is here to stay for a long time.As for the story, I absolutely love it! There are some philosophical questions, and statements to consider in your everyday life if you are a human being that could not be posed as gracefully by anyone other than CLAMP in this series. The answer to this question may seem obvious: Who would you fight for? Humanity or the Earth? Most people would easily say "humanity," but the characters in X bring up some good points for either side. This is not a story about good and evil, as in this story there is no good or evil. The Seven Seals and the Seven Angels are just supernatural beings living their lives according to their own beliefs and desires. It's nice to see 14+ people come across so HUMAN in a manga/anime sometimes. The main protagonist is one of the most selfish characters I have ever read about, and I love him for it.There is only one downside to this manga, in my opinion. I feel that the development of the story takes quite awhile. It's interesting enough to convince you to click on the next chapter/episode, but only if it's readily available. Had I been watching this episode by episode on Crunchyroll, or reading it online as it was being published, I don't think I would have cared enough to keep up with it. That's why I am very glad that I could buy it all at once and have three volumes right there for me to get into. It is definitely something worth reading once you get a little farther into the story.

Great Beginning to an Epic Apocalyptic Saga
I'm a big fan of CLAMP, and have read some of their earlier and latest works. I've always been interested in reading X (also known as X/1999),and so I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this omnibus addition. X volume 1 lives up to all of my expectations of what a good CLAMP manga is.First, the plot is intriguing and action-packed. There are two rival groups in X; the seven seals and the seven angels. The seven seals, who work for Princess Hinoto (a dreamseer), want to save the world from its grisly fate that the princess has seen in her dreams of the future. But the seven angels, who work for Kanoe (the sister of Princess Hinoto), seem to want something else for the future of the world. At the center of this is Kamui, who is to play a pivotal role in the future of the world. His childhood friend Fuma also seems to be involved in the battle for the future in some way, but it is hinted that he may not be on Kamui's side... In the three volumes contained in this book, the reader is also introduced to some members of the seven seals/seven angels, plus some other intriguing characters. There are some gorgeous fight scenes, and as the plot picks up and the seven angels inevitably clash with the seven seals, I expect some truly spectacular fights! This book is rated for Older Teens for a reason. Two of the color illustrations depict partial nudity and there is a lot of blood in this book (two characters are seen dismembered). Now onto the artwork. It is very shoujo-like and very beautiful, with stylized eyes and plenty of bishonens (Kamui,Fuma,Yuto, etc). Still, the fight scenes are excellently drawn. The art in X is also vastly superior to that of Tokyo Babylon, which is (of course) a good thing. For those who have read only later CLAMP works like Tsubasa and XXXholic, you will notice that the art in X is very different from the art style that CLAMP uses right now. The characters have less gangly bodies and more ornate eyes. The book is the perfect size and is not too bulky. The paper used in the omnibus volume is very high-quality, and the images are very clear. The color pages inserted into the volume are GORGEOUS.There are 17 color illustrations, plus three tarot card illustrations.Overall, I would recommend this book to any CLAMP fan, especially those who have read Tokyo Babylon. Subaru and Seishiro each make one-page cameos in this volume.I know that people have complained about the translations in the previous additions of X that were released by Viz, but I've not read the original Viz versions, so I'm not sure if they have changed the translations or not. I do think that they might have changed them a bit, because the seven angels are accurately called "the seven angels". Unlike del-rey, Viz has not included honorifics in this reprint of X. In this case, I do not think that this detracts from the story.
