NOT as good as they used to be
Have been wearing gold toe socks for years, in fact the few old pairs I have left still look to be in good shape after 5 years. However, these new gold toe socks appear to be lesser quality. The material feels less dense and one of the socks literally became see-through on spots around the ankle elastic after the first wash and after the second wash has completely started disintegrating. Disappointing as they are rather expensive for this kind of quality.

How far the mighty have fallen... These are trash now.
Gold Toe used to be the Gold Standard for socks. They were thick, warm, and lasted forever, or at least 12-18 months for an abuser like me. Not anymore. Half of them were thin and almost threadbare out of the packaging, and a month later, at least 10 of the 24 socks are in the trash because of holes worn in them. After at least a decade of reliable socks, gold toe is done. I'll never buy them again. It's like they're made with "Trump gold" now - cheap, tacky, and worthless. What a waste, and what a shame.

Gold Toe Socks Made In Mexico Results In The Decline Of Quality
I have been purchasing Gold Toe athletic socks for years. Up until recently, the socks were made in the United States and the quality has been outstanding. I realized something was wrong when I purchased Gold Toe Men's Cotton Quarter Athletic Sock, 6-Pack and one of the socks had a small hole in it right out of the package, another developed a hole in less than one month; and upon further investigation discovered, in the tiniest of print, the socks were now made in Mexico.In a side by side comparison, it becomes completely evident Gold Toe athletic socks now made in Mexico are not the same high quality nor are they as well made as Gold Toe socks previously made in the United States.

I had to see for myself.
I've been wearing Gold Toe quarter socks every day of my life for the past 22 years so if there ever was an expert opinion, it would have to be mine.I have noticed they don't last as long as they used to- at least socks that I've purchased in the last year. I assumed it had to do with my shoes.Another reviewer commented on them feeling very hot and trapping heat. This is my biggest complaint. I have also just now noticed this and this was something else I had also assumed was the shoes but brand new pair of shoes and brand new pair of socks and I can't stand to keep them on. It really does feel like my feet are on top of hot coals.On the plus side, I was surprised to find this "6 pack" was for 6 pairs, not 6 socks and it came with two bonus pairs, so 16 total socks. That would be a fantastic deal for the old Gold Toe socks but for something that I can't stand to wear and that doesn't last as long, I will be switching to another brand of sock... after 22 years.It just goes to show what sending your manufacturing overseas and using lower quality materials will do to even the most loyal customer. I'm actually considering returning these. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is maybe the heat trapping effect will come in handy in the winter time.R.I.P. Gold Toe socks. Hope the extra profits are worth it.

Not sure if these are counterfeit or Gold Toe has just gone downhill. They're thinner and not nearly as comfortable. If you poke your finger hard through a brand-new sock you can see your skin through it. I compared that to a 1 year old pair of Gold Toes that I have been washed & worn countless times and I can't see my finger through it when I poke just as hard.

Very Low Quality {Updated}
For the price I paid I expected a decent quality product. What I got is comparable to socks you can buy at the local flea market at $5 for a dozen pair. These 'Big and Tall' Quarter socks designed to fit people who wear shoes size 12-13 just fit my size 13 foot. Putting them on I can see then pulling thin at every seam already. At one point I could actually see my flesh between the threads at the toe seam and in the heel cup. I have little hope of these lasting very long but since I don't often wear shoes/sneakers and socks I'm just going to keep them and switch to a different brand when these eventually apparently quite rapidly fall apart.{Update}Wore and washed these socks. 2nd time I went to wear a pair one of the socks completely fell apart at the ribbed shaft. I know I said I expected them to fall apart but I thought I'd get more than one use out of each sock. The only bright side is Amazon's amazing customer service who have already issued a refund for the cost of the socks less than 12 hours after I contacted them.Avoid these socks.

Not Right Anymore
I was disappointed that a set marked as Big and Tall still fit like the smaller normal size. I have size 14 feet, which is on the lower range of the sizing, but they still fit poorly. The manufacturing is poor as well. My old Gold Toe socks are very nice even in their age, but these messed up. The gold toe part is very narrow. Instead of covering all my toes, it only goes over three of them. They are just not good socks anymore.

Gold Toe cotton makes for wonderful rags for use around the house in short order!
I now have a good inventory of soft cotton rags each with at least one hole. Cut where the ankle meets the foot. Use the foot. Haven't figured out a good use for the elastic ankle part. Wait a second. Now that I think of it, a beer can holder. You'll have to put your team's logo on it yourself. Impress your fellow fans with your thrifty, resourcefulness!
