Great set for a young starting magician
I gave this to my 6 year old for his birthday and he loves it. The tricks are very simple to learn and perform. The product description says that it has multiplying coins and a secret change bag, but it doesn't.The set includes the following 4 tricks:1- a "sword in the stone" trick where the child uses a secret ring to get the sword out of the stone.2- a trick where the child can change the color of a string from white to red by pulling it through a wooden box/gadget.3- an illusion box where items "disappear" when they are dropped inside4- a trick with a box and a dice where the child can guess the side/color of the dice that an audience member has chosen.Anyway, even though the tricks don't match the product description, I think the set is perfect for a 5-7 year old. (Any older, it may not be so great.) The set is wooden which is nice for durability.

Fun and Simple
My 7 year old son has shown interest in learning about magic. This was a great introductory set. It is durable and simple. It introduced him to illusion and how tricks work. He enjoyed practicing with his family, even if he is too shy to perform for his grandparents. Not frustrating. With a little practice, he learned to do the tricks.

Very basic for little beginner magicians.
My son loved his magic set when he got it for his birthday! He just turned 5. Its very basic and for beginner little magicians. I read the instructions to him and then he was showing everyone. Its not at all puzzling for adults but a lot of fun and helps keep him interested in his Hobby. Very sturdy material also. I'd call it worth the buy for us.

Great magic kit for a 5 year old!
Bought this for my son--actually he bought it with his allowance. He loves it. This is a great beginner kit as it has more gadget illusions rather than tricks that require skills. As such, he was able to do them well with just my cursory tutorial. Afterwards he gave a show to anyone who came into the house. Very easy for a child to learn and satisfying for them. Well built and cute.

Great even for 3 1/2 year old
Bought this for my son at Christmas after a magician came to his preschool. All of the tricks but one are easy to use and understand by my son. The one that isn't as easy I think will just take a little time and practice, like all great Magicians! Makes him feel very special that he can do these tricks on his own without the help of Mom and Dad. Love the all wood materials and nontoxic pain but c'mon Melissa and Doug, time to make it in the USA! (made in China).

A very simple magic set
Very simple set for a six year old - maybe too simple. The trick with the box and string that "changes" colors is pretty lame, since both string colors are visible at the start and end of the trick. The sword in the stone can be pulled out by a determined child without the "magic" ring. The other two tricks are better - very simple illusion tricks. My 6 and 8 year old love the set and are delighted to perform the tricks for anyone who will watch. I suspect they will quickly grow bored with it though as it is quite simple. I am more impressed with the magic set they make for 8+.The decorating on the set is cute. Except for the sword in the stone, I think it will last well. The box isn't useful for storing everything as it is open on the top and back.

Great gift for my 5 year old niece's birthday
My niece always believed in magic and never knew there were tricks involved. i got her this for her 5th birthday yesterday. Not only did she master all the tricks in a day but she has demonstrated it to everyone walking in.The only trick just a tad tough for her is the jewel box, but its just a matter of time. The best is thats its all wood so its unbreakable unlike cheap plastic which i do not enjoy. Its a great beginner set. Strongly recommend it. Next year she could possibly graduate to the next box.

Great for very young child
We gave this to a 4 year old for Christmas. She LOVES it and she is capable of doing all of the tricks (one is slightly tough - but a little practice made it work.) There are 4 tricks. I cannot imagine giving this to any child older than 4 or 5, they would think it was for a baby because the tricks are incredibly simplistic. It is perfect for a 4 year old though, because
