Updated - 16 July 2014: The last thing I mention is if the chair can survive my cats (I have a lot of cats). There is one "claw hole" near the top of the chair, and some "scratch pull" type marks on the chair as well. I had picked up one of these as a test to see how it held up against our use - and the cats... it appears as though the cats are going to win.I can work in this chair all day long without a problem, but I am going to have to seek another alternative that can survive my cats - who are relentless... if they only made this thing in 100% plastic... END OF UPDATE...First things first - the chair arrived in excellent condition. There is a slight smudge on the top, back, center of the chair around where my shoulders are, but some light washing with dish soap, and most of that came right off... it could have happened anywhere, even while taking it out of the box it came in.I was going to take some pictures - an unboxing of sorts - but the darn thing goes together so fast, and very easy, that I did not. Here is how I put it together - first, I took the "star" where the wheels go and turned it upside down on the floor - you can use cardboard from the box for this - and I slipped the wheels in. Some folks mentioned the wheels are tight to put in, but I pushed them all the way in with no problem.I then flipped the star / wheel thing upside right and popped in the center post. The directions are very easy to follow, but I know how the post goes in anyway from other chairs, but the picture directions are very easy to follow...Let me put it this way - there are three steps - the arms are already attached, and putting the wheels on and the center post in are the first of three steps. The second step is to attach the mechanism (for height and leaning back) to the seat. There are four screws for this and they give you a wrench for it. This is how I did this step, it was very easy to do.1) Place some cardboard from the box on the floor.2) put the chair on that, with the back of the chair away from you, and the front (seat area, of course) closer to you. This places the seat in perfect position to accept the mechanism.3) Take a washer and put it on a screw and then attach that screw to one of the two "higher" holes - this will be obvious when you do it - gravity is your friend! Then do the other top screw, just "finger tight" and back them out slightly. I had to "slide" the mechanism "up" so that I could get the lower screws in the holes - again, when you do this, it is beyond obvious.4) Finish with the other two screws and then tighten them all up with the wrench they give us.5) Place the seat on the post. This might be heavy for some folks, so if you need a hand with it, ask someone to help you put it on... it only goes one way on, and the hole is where the post goes.Your chair is done! Now, for adjustments...On the paddles, they do not pull up, they sort of twist - you will see what I mean quickly. There are two paddles, the one on the right is what makes the chair go up and down - if you are short, you will note that the lowest setting is a tad higher than a lot of chairs, so if your inseam is less than 28 inches - you might not like the chair so much. My inseam is 29 inches, and the lowest setting is perfect for me!The paddle on the left is for being able to tilt back or not - and you can lock it back. Tilt this paddle up, and you can sort of rock in the chair... and it might feel tight at first - I'll come back to that.Tilt the left paddle down, and it locks. If you tilt it up, lean back, then tilt it down, it will lock in the reclined position. The chair leans back pretty far.Now - on how tight that is... Look at the image of the chair... you can see the paddles, but centered under the chair looks like a big cup or something... that is a very large "screw," and if you turn that, it adjusts how tight the "leaning back" feature is. I set mine for as loose as it can be, and it is perfect to my taste.I found a Mr Clean Eraser and it got most of any little dirt marks off of the chair.Oh - comfort... The chair is comfortable. I could sit in this chair all day and work. The material is what I would think of as "pleather." It doesn't matter as long as it looks good and is comfortable... It would be nice if it can survive my cats... but that is another story!

Classic & Affordable
Great product! I was a bit concerned when I read some reviews about stains and tears, so initially we bought one as a trial. After 6 months using, and loving it, we bought our second one. It's been about 18 months and both chairs are in great shape. The leatherette has held up very well, we've never had to clean it and there are no tears on either of the chairs. The chair seats both my wife who's 5'3" and myself 6'2" comfortably. The first chair was delivered smoothly, ahead of schedule and in perfect shape. The second one unfortunately had a damaged box to the point where you could see the chair's back poking out of it. Still, it didn't take much effort to get a replacement chair sent to us in just a few days (Love Amazon!).PROS:Easy assemblyBeautiful, classic designAffordableCONS:Doesn't recline

Amazing looking replica Eames chair
This is an amazing looking chair! Perfect for a MCM home, and great for a computer/desk workstation which is what I’ll be using it for.I bought this as a Like New Warehouse Deal. Unfortunately it suffered some vinyl damage from the loose metal seat-adjuster during shipping. But Amazon Customer Service, being awesome as always, rectified that very quickly. I elected to keep it, rather than return, and instead I’ll attempt a vinyl repair with a kit for those spots. I think it can be saved with a just a bit of effort.Beyond that, fully assembled and ignoring those spots, this chair is definitely high quality. This is not a cheap imitation, this is a very nice reproduction. The base and frame are highly polished plated sturdy, heavy metal, and look fantastic. The shape, size, and feel is virtually identical to the Eames original. It seats comfortably, with a great lumbar support built into its curve. The swivel, recline, and height adjustment all work smoothly, and it was a very simple assembly.I’m giving it a full five stars, even though mine had some issues, because it’s not the chair’s fault, and had it arrived perfect it would definitely be worth those 5 anyway.

Chair is nice, comfy and works (but arrived dirty)
Firstly, one of the previous reviews (and Q&A) mentions that this chair is made of leather and given the price I was a bit skeptical of that. As I expected, it is not leather but a leatherette material - although the quality is pretty good. The chair was easy to assemble, and went together in less than 10 minutes. It is comfortable and all of the mechanisms work pretty well. What concerned me was that the packing of the product was terrible. While this didn't appear to be a returned item, the plastic and bubble wrap was filthy and dusty, and being a white chair, it too was dusty and dirty with fingerprints all over it. I spent approximately 45 minutes cleaning the chair once I got it out of the box and assembled. There is a cloth sling material that attaches the leatherette to the metal base and a couple of those fingerprints got "lighter" but could not be removed. There was also an oily film on the chrome parts, but that wiped off pretty easily with some window cleaner and a soft cloth.Overall, the chair is a good value for the money - you might want to consider the black one because it would not show the dirt that the white one did. If it was not so much trouble to return, had I bought this locally I would have probably taken it back to the retailer for exchange.
