Rising Storm is the next game in the award-winning Red Orchestra franchise. With the same great gameplay, innovative features and realistic audio and graphics of Red Orchestra 2 , Rising Storm takes this to the Pacific Theatre, adding even more gameplay depth. Fight across iconic locations from the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945, as the US Army and Marine Corps fight it out with the Imperial Japanese army and Special Naval Landing Forces. Experience beach assaults, jungle fighting, close quarters night fighting and more across Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Saipan, among other historic hot spots. Take part of either side – American or Japanese – battling it out online in full player versus player mode on up to 64-player servers. Rising Storm brings a complete new set of 6 multiplayer maps, plus more than 20 new weapons. These include the iconic US Garand, M1903 Springfield and the BAR; lesser-known Japanese weapons including Arisaka rifles, Type 100 SMG and the infamous “knee mortar”. And, of course, the flamethrower for the Americans. , Rising Storm takes you into the arena of asymmetric warfare: the American forces heavily equipped with automatic weapons, enabling them to put a lot more lead down-range than their Japanese opponents. The Japanese substitute raw courage, ferocity and some clever use of their existing equipment to compete. Using the knee mortar in both direct and indirect fire modes makes these weapons very lethal in the right hands. Grenades can be planted and turned into booby-traps for unwary GIs. The Japanese put very high store on close-quarter combat, with a bayonet on almost every weapon. The Banzai charge can be used in game to give the best possible chance of closing in to use bayonets and Katanas on their opponents. Key points: Standalone multiplayer game, that will include all Red Orchestra 2 multiplayer content 6 maps on release Americans vs Japanese in the Pacific Theater of WWII

BAD GAME
Only multi-player, I buy a game for the game, Multi-player to me is just a something that comes with the game. Thought I found a WWII to play. If I had know there no single play I would have NEVER bought! I installed played it once 30 minutes to me a useless game!

Multiplayer is amazing (single player sucks)
Rising Storm is an amazing multiplayer game. If you're looking for a fun single player experience, you're going to have a bad time. The learning curve can be steep; it is not anything like Call of Duty or Halo. You have to think before you act, or you will be killed quickly. It plays more like IRL paintball game than a typical video game: movement, teamwork, and situational awareness are much more important than twitchy reflexes and memorizing the maps.It has very realistic weapon mechanics including- high damage (one or two bullets can kill you!)- ballistic drop (you have to adjust your sights for long range shots)- reloading (method differs for weapons: stripper clips, box magazines, or single cartridges depending on what you're shooting)There is (as of this writing) a thriving and friendly community of players online. People are friendly and talkative, because teamwork is key. Grab a microphone and hop on a server!Graphics are a bit dated, but that in no way detracts from the experience. If anything, it's a bonus: it will run smoothly on even older hardware, and with an incredible number of players (usually 32 vs. 32) connected to the same server. The other reviewer is totally right, though: there's no single player in Rising Storm. Furthermore the single player in the predecessor, Red Orchestra 2, is TERRIBLE. It's really just a multiplayer match with bots that have terrible AI. It's clearly an afterthought, and really only good for learning the basic game mechanics. Play it long enough that you can figure out what the different weapons do, and how to throw grenades without killing yourself or your teammates ;-). Then go play multiplayer. If you're looking for an amazing multiplayer game, look no further. I'd give this game six stars if I could. It's a WONDERFULLY refreshing break from the typical AAA shooter like CoD or Battlefield.
